Just a note - Coulibaly was the 4th official during the New Zealand-Italy match today. It's an insult to America that this moron is still involved in refereeing for these games. The guy should be gone.

if they beat the host nation by 3, and Mexico beats Uruguay by 2, then they are still in business!

Even without all the turmoil, beating South Africa by 3 was not gonna happen, methinks.

France is absolutely imploding.
France continues infighting, refuse to train, director quits - Dirty Tackle - World SoccerBlog - Yahoo! Sports

Seems the team is siding with Anelka in his profanity-laced assessment of coach Domenech.
I hope they absolutely come together in spite of the coach (they basically boycotted him).
France team director Valentin quit on the spot, French President Sarkozy has become involved, it's just freakin mayhem.

Looks like Domenech is done after this anyways, i read elsewhere that Laurent Blanc has been tapped as the next coach already. I don't know much about him.

As do I, but I think that Mexico and Uruguay are destined for a draw.

I don't know if an angry Kim Jong-Il is a good thing. Wow, Portugal even converted the touchdown in a 7-0 thrashing of North Korea.

Oh brother, another FIFA ref falls victim to a blatant dive and Suisse is down a man...

I wonder what the headline will read in Pyongyang?
they'll probably just call it a draw, or maybe say that Portugal forfeited, due to fear of the awesome power that NK's offense showed in the Brazil game.

I think dash was on the right track .. they might say both teams mutually agreed to play "american football" and PRK bravely lost by only 1 converted touchdown

that or they will forget to post the score

Don't you hate it when you celebrate a goal only to look around to see the flag up for offsides?

three guys offsides there, each by about 6 feet.
mighta been OK except that that lat guy deflected it.

Chile has a pretty good looking PP here. lotsa pressure so far.
and yes, it was a pretty weak red. The swiss dude was flailing elbows, but the first guy that wne t down dove, and the 2nd guy embellished. Kind of why I don't really like either of these teams.

It is a Swiss defense that is tighter than a tax man's wallet...Not bad from the British commentator.

Nice cross and better header to put Chile on the board...

Edit: Very close to being offsides upon looking at the replay on the through ball that led to the goal...

That should have been 2-nil for Chile (too much power, not enough finesse on the shot)

Oh man, Chile almost scores at one end, and Suisse should have tied it up at the other...

Chile prevails 1-nil...That makes South American teams 8-0-2 so far in the World Cup.
