A useful idiot.
Since the rule change, the Bills are undefeated, so I like it.
I actually LOL'd on that one.
See... wasn't that exciting when he didn't even make the 20?

Yes exciting when the fastest guy on our team can't make it past the 12 so we are forced to take a knew on every ensuing kickoff
But they haven't been. Instead of just the return between the returns to the 20-30, we've been seeing more stops before the 20 (exciting for the defense), more big returns and TDs (exciting for the offense), and more touchbacks (safer for the players).
I think it's a win-win.
defense is not exciting though. People want to see offense, they want to see the big play.
defense is not exciting though. People want to see offense, they want to see the big play. This new rule will eventually eliminate it..

I think the big returns are more the kickoff team being caught offguard, unprepared and shocked that thier team can't find a dude who can hit the back of rhe end zone now.
No, it's b/c the kicking team is rushing down deeper. So, every return becomes higher risk-reward for both sides. I'm pretty sure the special teams guys (many of whom barely have jobs) are doing everything they can to get down and make a play. The fact that so many guys are getting hit at the 12 or 17, or 10 is good evidence of that.
I'll bet there are more return TDs this season. Anyone want that action?
I think we may even see a safety on a kickoff this year.
I think the number of kickoff returns was the element of surprise. When the games get down to crunch time and making the playoffs the coaches will tell these guy's not to take those chances.
The NFL is already talking about tweaking the new KO spot. One idea is instead of the kickers kicking the ball off of a tee they would kick it from a punting position. The other ideas is to make a touchback start at the 25 yard line instead of the 20.

I will because the teams will adjust. The Bills were kicking into the corners of the end zones and every time the Chiefs tried to return the ball they got squat. It will not take long before the coaches get nervous about guy's returning the ball 7-8 yards deep in the end zone.

That means we will see the Safety Celebration dance a lot more this year then.
