In an attempt to avoid concussions, they're kicking off at the 35 yard line now (used to be at the 40). Kinda felt to me like there were more guys taking a knee than before. I'm not a fan of the rule (I don't like change!).

/The NFL was pushing to get rid of kickoffs altogether.

Its either a touchback or return the ball to the 10 yard line. #fail

Like it. Still saw lots of exciting returns today and saw some guys get caught at like the 16 or the 12 coming out. Adds more strategy I think.

Weren't there more kickoff return TDs than a typical week? I think there were 4-5 this week (and still 2 games to go).

Worth noting they are kicking from where they used to kick from. So if you are talking about "change," they are actually going back to what is was for decades.

There's going to be more kick returns this week because it is the first week. Special teams are going to have their flaws. After watching the Saints/Packs game and now the games this weekend, it just makes games more boring.

No need for change.

Leave it to a Caps' fan to get the facts straight. ;)

5 return TDs this week. League average last year was just a shade over 2 per week.

Seems like a silly and unnecessary rule change when there are much bigger fish to fry in the NFL.

How about a rule like "If you commit murder, r*pe, drug trafficking or illegal gambling you can't play a kid's game for money anymore."

And if they wanted to stop concussions in the game, perhaps they should do something about all the fat guys who run into each other face first and fall down the rest of the game.

Bigger fish to fry? You think they spent the whole 7 months discussing only kickoff returns? They have time to discuss lots of things.

I'm fine with second chances if people serve time for their mistakes. I don't see what that has to do with this topic.

And there already is a rule on helmet-to-helmet contact.

Reading on my phone, where I blow it up to be legible, ao I can't see the post and the author together together on the same screen...

Assumed this was a Philly fan who conveniently left off animal cruelty from the list.

I didn't see an existing problem with concussions among kick returners. Maybe there was, but nothing I noticed.

Pretty sure animal cruelty is more popular below the mason dixon line.

Kind of dumb in the sense that you are eliminating one of the most exciting plays in the sport. Also, I don't know all the facts on injuries to kick returners, but I doubt it was high enough to make a drastic change to the sport. How many kick return specialists will lose their jobs now as teams lose the need for them?
