I'll take the leg lock...
Iggy just resigned as Liberal leader...Here's your chance Bob Rae.
Id say KEN DRYDEN but ... woops!
I think Dryden was missing some key Lapointe men last night (not to mention Robinson and Savard) and couldn't make a key save.
actually only 2 % more of eligible voters voted this year as opposed to last election. just more voted for the Conservatives. Well it is what it is.
my boy won my riding last year riding by 20 votes.
the marketing push by the other broad was pretty strong this year, and it worked.
from what you state, im surmising this is the broad that got the endorsement from the accused air india bombing conspirator ... good marketing push ... how does anyone vote for her??? plus shes involved with all sorts of legal battles ... WITH MEMBERS OF HER OWN FAMILY????
I know people vote for party but I would go against party if i lived in that riding
If I believed that the Conservatives could run without bringing far right ideology into the picture (which is how Harper platformed) I wouldn't mind them having a majority. I mean, my values are pretty closely aligned with the Liberal party, but I could stomach the conservatives being in power if I trusted them.
The problem is, between the Statscan "long-form" incident, the CIDA "Bev Oda" incident, and the complete disrepect Harper has for our foreign affair department (and the public service in general), I can't trust them. They've shown time and time again that they will ignore expert advice when it doesn't fit their ideology.
Statscan (world leader in stats) insists we need long-form census? Overruled. Chief statistician resigns in protest.
CIDA recommends funding for an organization? Deny it (okay) and then lie about it and pretend the lying doesn't matter (not okay).
Crime rates are at historic lows, why should we build more prisons and increase minimum sentences? Never mind, we don't trust those statistics because they don't agree with our ideology.
Jets cost how much? You don't need to know.
If that's how the "Harper" goverment acts with a minority, can you imagine the shitshow they're going to run now, with a majority government? Harper prorogued at the first sign of trouble, and then squirmed his way out of the Bev Oda scandal. They don't give a fuck about parliamentary law, and with a majority, they don't HAVE to. That's scary.
I expect the next four years to have decent economic growth (better than the disaster an NDP-led gov't would be), but Canada will take big steps backwards in terms of traditional, strong SOCIALIST (yeah, I said it) Canadian values. Harper will do whatever he wants for the next four years, brush off any criticism, and pass new laws that will make it really hard for the other parties to challenge the Conservatives in the future.
Should be fun. At least we'll get to bitch a lot.
It doesn't hurt that it's a pretty heavily Asian influenced neighborhood.
Wai trumps Ujjal on the demographics.
im not going to fake that I am a huge political follower but what is the biggest fears from canadians that Harper has the majority? and what can Layton do about it? Its not like the NDP can call an election if they are not happy with the Conservatives direction.
