Way too mad about Rep!
excuse me?
I actually think thats funny
.
Well then I sure hope the families that lost loved ones or have nowhere to live now find the humor in these jokes, and get a good laugh out of it.
I think it will be good for them.
My whole point is that he was the voice of the duck for Aflac, which are commercials that people identify with, and the company relies on to get more business.
When something like this happens, the Company has no choice but to let him go to save face as a comapny. Their business could suffer if they keep him on.
This is something that happens a lot in the business world with celebrities, and sometimes for stuff that is way less, and not something that is being played out on a World stage.
You find it funny now but it's been almost a decade since 9/11. The sting subsides after time. You probably, and I'm enunciating "probably," wouldn't have found it funny on September 12th, 2011.

He has the right to joke about Japan.
AFLAC has the right to fire him.
You have the right to be mad at Gottfried.
I have the right to laugh at his tweets.
That's all.
When you are the voice of the company's mascot, upon which it derives the company's identity, you're a representative of that company.
And you really dont know me. Yes, you probably think I'm a horrible person, well I am....I dont hide it.
You'd have to do something much, much worse than laugh at a poorly-timed joke in order for me to declare you a horrible person! I'm not taking Gilbert Gottfried that seriously.
And in comedy...timing is everything.
Then I must be doing it right? My wife is always laughing at me in bed.
Better than crying.
