Okay, now I'm currious:

Does anyone know if the guy will have any recourse under Canadian law to get his stuff back from folks who attend the sale?

I'm not a lawyer, but if it is viewed as property of the marital unit, then he would just be eligible for his share of the proceeds of the sale in the upcoming divorce.

Yep. She might even be liable for more if she is selling it way under it's value and since the replacement cost would likely far exceed the proceeds from the sale. (that's speculation though b/c I haven't studied Canadian law).

Definitely not a smart move legally... but still really awesome.

If he's at fault in the divorce, her costly decision would likely be much less costly than his.
