my goodness. this is terrible

West Vancouver police confirmed a four-year-old child has died and two women are injured after a TransLink bus driver struck the pedestrians Wednesday afternoon at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal in West Vancouver.

The boy's mother was transported to Lions Gate Hospital in critical condition and the second woman, who is believed to be a family friend, was taken to the same hospital in stable condition, police said in a statement Wednesday evening.

Boathouse closing its iconic White Rock location (and Kits) in a couple months ... somewhat sad but since Americans took over food has gone to shite White Rock Boathouse to close its doors this September

/My sister in law was a hostess on the rooftop patio there when she was in high school. She once witnessed a woman feeding her toddler in a high chair all the fruit from the bottom of an alcoholic drink and the kid keeled over in the chair :pound:

i thought Kits was already closed for the boathouse. Boathouse has long been low quality and I am surprised that White Rock location was still in business when I walked past it last year.

Do you guys already have yard waste pickup as part of your recycling program? They are rolling it out this week for us in the Cowichan Valley. It's nice to not have to haul it to the dump any longer.

Burnaby and Vancouver yes for sure. Burnaby its green bin pickup weekly. You can put food waste in there as well. Garbage pickup is every second week.

Did you have to pay for your trips to the dump (i said pardon?)?

Yard waste drop-off was free. Garbage was charged based on weight (minimum $10 charge).

all of City of Delta has it as well for as long as I can remember. We also have a once a year Spring Clean for free (anything that 2 people can pick up that are not building materials e.g. drywall, paint or appliances) that allows up to a full pick up truck load.

In Vancouver they recently dropped the compost pick up to every other week during the winter, which makes sense.

Just gave a bit too much time for the food waste to get pretty rank in that bin

And we definitely don't have the junk pickup program

Burnaby doesnt do a spring clean up day where they pick junk up. They have a junk day where you can load your shit and take it to the works yard/eco centre and drop it off there for free. BUT ... that yard is right next to the Costco on Still Creek.... The Costco that is by some metrics the 8th busiest Costco in the world.

They do it on a Saturday and its a complete shit show of traffic

You can call the city any time of the year and schedule them to go to your house and do a large item pick up for free

not sure why all cities don't adopt that same program as us. prevents (mostly) people from dumping in alleys and farm roads (beside the dead gangbangers)
