Is this the one that shut down Lougheed last week, or a new one?
Do we need to start a counter for cranes as well as overpasses?
new one ... Bosa building in Surrey

/ on the smashing into overpasses front ... near miss yesterday ... would have been a doozy i think

Bedard is back home. Working out on ice at Scotiabarn past 2 days. He signed a jersey for my sons teammate today. Tomorrows session of kids are going out tonight looking for Bedard jerseys to buy and get autographed tomorrow lol

My son is showing me pics his friends took and the smallest kid on his team is the same height as Bedard.

So this is topical

we got into this conversation this morning and I was talking about how I paid $20 for an all day lift ticket in Alberta back in the late 90s so we looked up whistler lift tickets and

Did Whistler a couple of years ago. It's nice but busy and full of douchebags.

Did Big White last year and it was worth the drive and an absolute bargain in every way compared to Whistler.

Meanwhile, Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island closed yesterday due to lack of snow. They did re-open today, but I can't imagine it being all that good for skiing.

Resort Reopening Today

Mount Washington will reopen with minimal terrain today, Friday, February 2nd. The Whiskey Jack Chair and Carpets are planned to operate, as well as some trails for snowshoeing from Raven Lodge. Ticket pricing is reduced to $69 for adult, $59 for youth, senior, and $39 for child and available at the ticket windows only. The morning Alpine and Nordic grooming reports will provide details about open terrain. Please stay on the groomed runs to avoid off-piste hazards.

I was lamenting the fact my daughter does competitive gymnastics (and the cost that goes with that) with another hockey dad and he let me know his daughter does competitive downhill skiing and now I dont complain about it :thumb:

Last season for my daughter in cheer (previously she was in artistic gymnastics). It wasn't cheap, but I still think hockey, alpine skiing or equestrian would be miles more expensive.

/Tennis would also be expensive, I reckon.

my friend used to complain about how expensive hockey was as he was putting his kids through all the levels he could.

I always told him... cheaper than a lawyer. at least this keeps them off the street for most of their youth

It probably depends on the travel. The downhill skiing dad I know is taking his daughter to races around North America. My sons hockey team was going to be in a Presidents Day tournament in Phoenix (until the goalie and goalies dad said they'd go if the rest of the team paid for his airfare :L )

When it came time to choose which comp's my daughter was going to enter, she was "Id like to do Maui, Anaheim and Montreal" and we were "Youre gonna love the Charity Choice Invitational in Tacoma"

With support of the Blue Jackets and other businesses, my program spends 50-100k a year buying gear and ice time to help kids get out there.

5 years ago it was 25-50k. Costs are just going up like crazy and there are no noticeable improvements in facilities.

I gave the love for the fact your program does what it does to promote and build the game.

I am not shocked at the increase but I have to think that that large an increase over 5 years is really high. is it from popularity? greed? both?
