I grew up in a neighborhood that had the city county line right down the middle of it. It was very oddly done, the line went right through some houses. I was in the county by about a hundred yards or so. The ways we could tell where the line was were the streetlights and the street pavement. The city lights were much more yellow and the county's were a brighter whiter. The street on the city side was much rougher, more rocks in the tar.
It was all kind of cool except some of my friends who lived right up the street had to go to different schools than I did.
