That's how we actually travelled to mission.... One hour highway drive from where we lived (woukda been almost 2 back in the late 70s)
My parents had an - I think - 7th generation (late 70s) T-Bird (may have been 6th) when I was a kid. Way before my learning to drive days, but I do remember watching my dad try to wax the entire hood on that beast.
