I once saw a guy in an old VW bug do the exact same thing in a flash flood in northern Mexico.

Intense rains led to these floods that submerged portions of the road. We were in a jeep and there were transport trucks and pickups and a few other cars waiting. This guy all of a sudden just passed us all in the oncoming lane and went for it. He made it about 20 feet into the flooded area before the water swept him into an arroyo REALLY fast. We watched him just go with the flow until he was out of sight (about half a mile away). It was surreal.

To this day I wonder what happened to that guy and whether he survived. I mean he was just out of sight in what seemed like seconds.

Just an FYI - That mug I posted above isn't like that on purpose. It's an actual mug that is sold for the University of North Texas.

On second thought, I think they knew what they were doing all along.

Their radio station used to be KNTU but when they changed their name to Unitersity of North Texas they had to jumble the letter to KUNT....
