If she doesn't get distracted by Penny and is sitting in the dark when the Guvna comes back I think she makes easy work of him. I think its partially revenge for sending the group after her, but I think its partially protecting the prison group. She figured out what happened to the National Guard group, or at least had doubts, I think she suspected that no matter what they would come after them too.

Very good point hadn't looked that deep into it. Was probably the smart thing but man she needs to communicate more to Rick

I agree that Carl is starting to grow on me too. I kinda wish he'd lose the sheriff's hat though. I'm sure it's supposed to be symbolic. But it makes him look too much like a kid that is trying too hard to be a grownup. Instead of a kid that is being forced to grow up too fast. If this series goes 6 or 7 seasons he's going to become a young man so they'll need that character/actor to continue to step up. I was hoping he'd be the one to put Axel in his place when he was being all creepy around Beth, maybe next time. I can see Carl or Carol (maybe Hershal) killing Axel after he goes too far.

8.5/10 for a rating for me still doesnt beat last seasons mid season finale. sophia coming out of the barn was spectacular. but this was good. glad there was some zombie goodness but better that more human conflict. makes sense that so much of it exists. everyone is making their own rules and way of life.

Sophia walking out of the barn is probably still my favourite scene of the whole series. This final scene of the 1st half this year was good but not as great as that. However top to bottom I prefered last night's episode as a whole to last year's season finale. Can't really go wrong with either though.

Probably intentional. Demonstrates that despite the growing up he's been forced to do, he's still a kid that doesn't necessarily understand the dangers of the world.

I'm hoping that was a one off incident with Axel and that he's actually an alright guy. Although I have a feeling he's not long for this world.

About 1/3 of the population of the Atlanta metro area is African American though. So, in theory, 1/3 of the cast should be too...

So there's a shortage of African Americans all through the show, but 60% of the original surviving prisonners were African American. :L

I'm still waiting for Morgan and Dwayne to make a comeback. I have a feeling I might have to wait a while. Could they be chilling in Woodbury but we just haven't seen them yet?

didnt they show beth give rick a kiss in the "on the next walking dead" scene at the end of last nights episode

Carl is gonna lose his shit about that

Haha yeah Carl might not like that for more reasons than 1. I'm guessing the kiss will be for bringing Maggie back home safe. Either that or for protecting her from Axel.

The only way I see Axel surviving beyond this season is if he switches to team Woodbury, perhaps as a spy. He just doesn't fit in with Rick's group, especially now with Oscar gone. Even then I think you're right that he probably wouldn't last too long. The Governer wouldn't have any patience for him if he fails him even once.

This Ben kid could also get in Carl's way as it relates to Beth. It would be tough for him to compete against the older dude.

Im probably reading way to much into it but the guy (Axel) just screams con man to me (another parallel to "Lost" as u have mentioned although i dont think we will see the mass public fanboy love for "shirtless Axel" - lol) ... the insincere way he is trying to ingratiate himself to the group

i know you guys brought it up ... but that moment when rick decided that a group would go to woodbury to get Maggie and Glenn back ... and the director makes a point to show us Axel chime in and say bravely ... "I'll go" ... and the next thing you know ... he ends up remaining in the prison

I wonder when we end up finding out why he was in prison to begin with

Well he did say he likes his pharmaceuticals. I don't think he's a spy, but I could see him some how getting caught by the Woodbury crew and telling them everything he knows and them using that as leverage.

he would break so fast in that situation. I think he would also turn on anyone pretty quick. he seems spineless.

we will see. he could simply be just zombie food for a good scene later

Zombie food sounds about right. But if that's the case then discovering the prisoners was kind of weak.

not with the way Rick killed Tomas. it showed his willingness to be vicious when it came to the safety of the group and his survival and some compassion for bringing in prisoners to the group without really knowing their backgrounds. it was important for ricks character to me killing oscar so early was kind of a surprise I liked him (loved the slipper scene)

axel may turn out to be a crazy fuck (I sort of saw it a little with the way he was shanking that zombie in the second episode.)

I was wondering about that too. But before he said he would go, Beth also volunteered. Maybe after Rick and the gang talked her out of going (for obvious reasons) Axel changed his mind. Or maybe they figured he'd be about as useless as her on that trip.
