i think they only counted her because of the impact of a small child being shot in the head by Rick. it was the first time he had to kill a child walker. that was a pretty big scene

Yeah I think that was the 1st walker we saw in the whole series too if I remember correctly. Certainly worthy of a mention.

Good episode this week. I was a bit disappointed that no time was spent on the main group but it was cool to see Merle again and meet and/or get to know a bit more about some new characters. Was this the 1st episode in which Rick did not appear? Pretty sure Lori and Glen (if you count his voice in the series premiere) had at least made brief appearances in every episode before this one too.

I can't wait for the 2 sets of characters to collide. We've now pretty much seen every clip that was included in the season 3 trailer. The trailer made it appear (at least to me) that a lot of the dialogue was between Rick and the Governer between the prison. But it now seems unlikely that the Governer has much interest in the prison other than the resources. Andrea still seems to have some loyalty to the main group. I wasn't sure if she would have felt abandoned by them or not.

Michonne is really annoying, the only facial expression she has is "extremely suspicious." They keep cutting to her after something, anything happens to show us that she doesn't trust these people who act like they're hiding something. One or two of these shots would be enough to establish how she feels about their current situation, but they keep doing it over and over.

But season 3 has been a huge improvement from season 2.

yeah that was the first of no rick or any of the other group outside Andrea. that was well done. the season trailer gave us so much information yet NOTHING on the actual stories lol that was some good trickery.

yeah she needs to change up and so does Andreas man walk. she went back to being really annoying very very quickly. that scene between her and merle where she is listing off the names was good. didnt realize so many of the group had gone. Merle is going to be interesting to watch while he is under the Governers control. I dont get why the world thinks Michonne is so bad ass. sure she can swing that sword but man that facial expression is really brutual. like she is constantly pinching a poop. she needs to expand her character for me. I know she will but a full episode like that doesnt do much for me (yet).

the governor is a special kind of crazy ruthless. Rick is going to have a challege here like he hasnt seen yet. I think the Gov knows of the prison and is biding his time to go "obtain" whatever resources he can. I was really liking the Gov at the start.

yes, but she looks very good in those jeans. :clap2:

I was also wondering what the big deal was. he seemed like someone who just looked out for his crew, then WHOA!!!!!
Seems those folks might have been more useful than just their equipment.

The Gov certainly has the most unique fish tank collection in the world. Jesus... creepy.

was thinking about this today. it ALMOST made sense from his point of view. he could have left them be and never gone to see them but then they may have come looking got into their town and tried to take over being military minds. so it SORT of makes sense... again in his own mind. I sort of kind of relate more to that thinking but I would have taken the chance to leave them alone rather than kill and take. but he doesnt have a full town because he is nice.

the heads is something Ive never seen before. kinda mesmerizing like a xmas tree :D

I think it totally makes sense. His job is to protect "his" people. It's not really any different than Rick and co. with the prisoners except that's it is more proactive. I just wonder what his end game is. What's with the heads? The Gov and the scientist guy seem to be trying to figure something out. So there is something underlying there that they are not telling us yet.

I just come back to thinking that there is more power in numbers. Especially with some military training.
Governor knows that they all have the zombie-flu, I would assume he is trying to somehow figure out a cure?
dunno. gonna be fun to find out. glad it's a full season. 6 eps would have driven me nutso.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems the most valuable resource that could have been obtained was the manpower to help protect their town. He made several comments earlier in the episode about not wasting bullets but he sure didn't seem to mind using them on those guys. I guess we know what he was saving them for. I'm thinking maybe the Governer is somehow responsible for the army guys having their walls get breached. I'm definitely interested in learning more about this Governer guy. He seems like he was probably a bit like Shane in that he was a good guy in the pre-apocolypse days that turns "bad" in the post-apocolypse but probably still has some good in him.

I also wonder if for some reason he he wants to limit the number of males in their community. Letting all those dudes join their small population would have really thrown the ratio out of whack. It was okay to bring the other guy in because he was bringing 2 females with him. Or maybe he sees them as a threat to his leadership role and already has plans for ending the pilot's days.

The pilot is already dead. See the "fish tank" in the last shot.

I think only because the governor killed him so no questions. I think he was on the way to recovery and the only reason why he saved him was to get info then kill him

guy is a total control freak. wants NO ONE to threaten his power. that is the governor. I just have NO idea how they will bring Rick vs the Governor into this battle between them. the prison cant hold THAT much but maybe he just wants it all and he wants it now

So he's a Queen fan? ;)

On a related note, why doesn't anyone use trip wires or traps? Or dig a ditch with spikes? Perfect defense against the slow-moving and not very observant "walkers" or "biters" depending on your camp.

Sometimes the tactics of the survivors in the show get on my nerves. ;)

And yeah, Matty. You're right - planned to kill him, needed the info., and can easily be explained - he didn't make it and turned.

Good episode, but I did miss the main group some.
