It's a holdout from before unlimited data but after smart phones. When you had to pay for minutes. You could call when connected to WiFi without using mobile data. It's silly to even have on phones nowadays and it's clear they haven't been paying attention to the security of it.

This is a vulnerability in the underlying system that communicates between the cell towers and phones and the way Samsung chips process that traffic.
I am not going to worry about it. I cannot find the setting. I can find screen shots of where the setting is supposed to be on my exact model - but its not there. Fun..

I always thought I had it activated because I sometimes work in the basements of buildings and cannot get cell service so I assumed I could make and receive calls over wifi. If not I dont need it and can probably turn it off through my carrier

if you send 43 your mother's maiden name and SSN, he can disable it remotely for you.

Knowing how forensics on Mobile Phones works, there would never be a circumstance that I would use a charging cable that I did not personally supply. But I might not have ever said that.

DO NOT USE PUBLIC CHARGING STATIONS

Also: Never use public wifi without a VPN. Best case, only use your phone as a hot spot and never use public wifi at all. But still use a VPN.

Hey, Elon a simple search can identify bots for you to eliminate. You're gonna get right on that, right? Last time I ran it, I got 63,000 bots.

When they find the person who did this, they are in for a long string of bad days.

Side note - why the fuck you keeping anything related to a system you decommissioned in 2018? If you sue the Bar Association, do you get disbarred?

I always assumed that auto-complete was kind of based on what it learned from the user's past typing
With twitter, you never know, but......

AI is not a lot more than a predictive text engine. The more input it gets, the more "accurate" the results. Accurate in the sense of if x word is used after z word 75% of the time it gives you x word more than anything else after you type z word. Google ties it to your ID, so it's more based on what you typically search for. More personalized.

I would wager that what Twitter did was just dump everything into one giant AI data lake because that is so much easier than trying to personalize the user experience. So the responses it is giving are more in line with what the average Twitterer types.

Twitter also tried to roll out encrypted calling and messaging which did everything perfectly except that it didn't really encrypt anything and causes people to lose access to old messages.

Turns out firing 80% of your tech staff, when you are a company that only makes tech, was a bad idea.

This was probably part of a much larger coordinated attack on a vulnerable platform. Victims all over the world. The company I used to work for had several, if not all, of it's marketing partners get breached to the tune of half a million customer records. A situation that would have landed directly on my desk if I was still there. The guy who replaced me, who used to work for me, texted me last week and said that he finally understands how many bowls of shit I had to deal with when I was there.
