Great comeback down 3-0 and they get 3 in the 3rd to tie, and 1 in OT for the W

Well that was a letdown. They were terrible in the 3rd and beyond. Awful effort tonight...

Sharp looks like he will have the game winner, after the Stars blow a 4-0 lead in the 1st period

Vintage Kari with the complete meltdown. The team as a whole looked sluggish and, as Razor said, didn't have to try all that hard to get that 4-goal lead. That seemed to set the tone for them as far as the effort they felt they had to give the rest of the night. But even so, at least 3 of the 5 goals Kari let in were just awful on his part.

I tuned in late and missed all the Stars scoring, but Im watching the replay now. Yeah Kari looked like garbage and Carolina was in the Stars zone most of the 2nd and the early part of the 3rd period, and out shot the Stars 30-20. Though Niemi came on and got the win as the Canes didnt have a shot on goal the last 6:43. Glad to see Klingberg get the 3 helpers

WATCH: David Backes, Jamie Benn take part in another captain fight

By Adam Gretz | Hockey writer

December 12, 2015 10:03 pm ET

The St. Louis Blues held a "Captains night" on Saturday for their game against the Dallas Stars that saw them bring back several of their former captains for a pregame ceremony on the ice.

So it was only fitting that the two captains participating in the game -- David Backes for the Blues and Jamie Benn for the Stars -- would continue their little on-ice feud and drop the gloves for the second time in a year.

Have a look.

That was one of two fights that took place in the first period with an Antoine Roussel-Petteri Lindbohm bout following this one just one minute later.

Backes doesn't fight a ton, but when he does he certainly gets his money's worth out of it and tends to make sure he either gets involved with the other team's captain, or one of their best players. His scrap with Benn on Saturday was the 22nd regular season fight of his NHL career with six of them coming against other team's captains.

He has another two against Anaheim Ducks superstar Corey Perry.

Earlier this season he dropped the gloves with Chicago Blackhawaks captain Jonathan Toews.

For Benn, the NHL's reigning scoring champion, this was his first fight of the season.

Along with the goal and the fight, Backes adding an assist on a Vladimir Tarasenko goal in the third period to complete the Gordie Howe hat trick (goal, assist, and fight in the same game).

Cant beat this Calgary team and their goalkeeper was excellent tonight. Power play continues to be an issue for the Stars lately, gotta get better there

The power play is just way too predictable and stale. Teams know exactly how to defend it because it's always the same- lose the draw in the offensive zone, puck gets sent back to the other end, Klingberg brings it halfway up the ice and then does the automatic pre-planned drop pass to Spezza who finally gets the puck into the zone with about 1:35 left on the PP. Then they set up the umbrella and pass it around for another 15-20 seconds trying to get Seguin or Benn a shot from one of the wings, finally settling for a Klingberg shot from the point that doesn't get through. Then the puck is cleared with about 40 seconds to go, leaving about 30 seconds for Eakin to fumble the puck or Goligoski to fail to keep the puck in the zone. They get 1-2 shots at most on the majority of their power plays. It's very slow-moving, stagnant, and predictable. And I swear the Stars take fewer one-timers (minus Seguin) than any team I've ever seen. They give the other team far too much time to get into the shooting lanes. I miss the days when Modano, Zubov, and especially Hull would just unleash quick one-timers all over the place.

With the crazy amount of skill the Stars have now, there is no excuse for 2 for 29 on the PP. They need to fire that particular coach because their PP has been bad for about 3 years now.

Also, I've had it with Kari. He is just way too inconsistent. He'll play a great game and then follow it up with a stinker like tonight's. 2 of the 3 goals he allowed should have been saves.

Yep, pretty spot on as to the PP, and Kari makes some nice saves, but lets far too many easy ones through. Guess i had to expect them to come back to earth a bit on the early season success. Calgary has been hot, would have liked better results tonight though. Out shot them by a wide margin but couldn't get anything past Ramo

Stars throttle another opponent after a loss, missed the first 2 periods but seemed to be a good home win. Lots of penalties and it seems the PP was somewhat better tonight

A good Montreal team at that.

Stars offense and big guns outplayed the Canadiens star players by a landslide, but Montreal has a good offense normally. I figured it would be a high scoring game and it was, just mostly one sided
