Here was the one of the worst decisions ever made by an artist in relation to videos. Also called The Video That Ruined A Career.

Damn, now I do feel old after watching some of the commercials that were on back in 1981. I saw the one for Atari, and remember playing all of those games.

Am I in the minority when I say a music video shouldn't just consist of the band "playing" their instruments on a fake set?

Am I in the minority for thinking music videos, as a whole and as a concept are pretty stupid?

(not that as a teen I didnt spend many many hours watching Mtv)

For the most part, I agree with you, but there are some videos out there that I think are pretty well conceived.

In the beginning most of the video's on MTV were made to be played on video jukeboxes. After about a year they started being more than that.

I agree, in the mid to late 80's, there were some very creative videos made.

Oh I agree, there are lots of very good ones. I still think the overall idea is pretty silly. And the fact that for 12 years or so MTv had a hand in what was popular music wise or not was pretty silly too.

One of my favorite videos, made because the label forced them to so they gave it the effort they thought it deserved. It ended up kind of a pretty video and VH1 or MTV had it in their top videos of all time a few years ago.

As if there was any doubt about what that band thought of videos, a song on the previous album was pretty blunt about it. "Seen Your Video" is mainly a guitar driven instrumental which has a few screamed lyrics at the end:

All day, all night, all music video
Seen your video, the phony rock 'n' roll
We don't want to know, seen your video
Your phony rock 'n' roll
We don't want to know
We don't want to know
We don't want to know
We don't want to know

Why is this all over the hockey community? I've seen it every direction I turn regarding the NHL. Who gives a flying fuck about Lisa Simpsons wedding invitation? I really dont get it.

it's just an arbitrary date that was (recently) viewed as being way off in the future.
same thing happened in 1984 with the George Orwell book
