OT: RIP Junior Seau higgy

For some reason I was shocked to hear this....these guys seem so tough on the field...you forget that they are only human....and who knows what goes on in another persons mind....although many people will say suicide is selfish...I find it incredibly sad...what torture must a person be going through to think that this is the only way out? RIP Mr. Seau...you'll always be a great football player to me...

As long as it is not done as a means of villainizing someone else who supposedly drove them to it, then I may not necessarily feel sorry for them but don't necessarily judge them either. It's hard to understand without being in their situation. I'm sure in some cases it might be selfish but not always. I don't really feel bad for them that they are dead, but I might feel bad that they lived what they perceived to be such a horrible life that they decided to end it.

Might not be tactful but he's probably correct. Taking your own life is a way out for you, but it leaves everyone else to deal with your passing. Loved ones and friends all have to deal not only with you passing, but with questions like if they could have seen it coming or what if they'd done this differently. It eats at them. Death is a tragic but necessary thing. Suicide is not. I can't imagine his emotions, so maybe I"m not justified in saying this, but I'd hate to be so far gone that I want to end it more than I want to protect those close to me from that sort of grief.

And assuming he did kill himself, then you know he put some thought into it. He didn't shoot himself in the head so they could check for concussions. But at the same time didn't leave a note. That's messed up. If you have the foresight to preserve your brain for science, at least leave a note explaining why to your family and friends, because otherwise they might think it's their fault. Or better yet, DON'T FREAKING KILL YOURSELF.

Overall, it's just a really sad situation and whether it was Rick Rypien or Derek Boogaard or Wade Belak or Junior Seau today, the immediate family members are the ones most directly and deeply affected. We still know so little about the brain and how different things (be it drugs, alcohol, depression, or CTE or a combination of these elements) impact a person's outlook and thought processes.

I prefer to think that we have good posters here. Sure we have the normal team envy spats but a young man has just took his life. You nor I have any clue what led him to this choice.

I choose to show some respect. You obviously can choose to say what you wish. Like I said I prefer to think we have above average posters here.

Saying things like "I have no pity for anyone who kills himself " is a near sighted view and you nor I have no clue what the damage of drugs nor head injuries led to his choice.
