apologies to rub this off on all of you guys but i gotta vent here...

been dating this girl over the span of the past year and a half, we've gone in 3 spirts, broken up twice, and are back together again, have been for about 2 months. but over the weekend things seemed to get rockey again...

she got here bachelors last year, and is stil going to school now pursuing nursing, she's an extremely driven girl, i applaud every second of it.

but the reason we broke up the 2nd time was distance. i've got my son up here with me in north, i can't pull him far from mommy, and this girl is at school in philly, about an hour and a half away. with work and the kid the schedules match up, 3-4 times a month and it wears on the relationship.

its the biggest issue, but i have my doubts, where i think, hey if i was supposed to be with this girl would this even be an issue at all...

basically. fuck relationships.

that is all.

I rarely visit the hockey thread...but women are fucking insane. Seems like the hotter they are the more ridiculous shit gets with them. My ex is an ex because of distance. We even are closer right now but she doesn't feel the same anymore:(
Anyways, maybe she can realize you care about her or perhaps one day you can finally fix everything with her and will be closer. Good Luck

I guess what you have to look at is the long term.. after her nursing school where is she going to work and all that shit. Sometimes the sacrifices may seem fucked up but in the end if you stick with it, it will be worth all the drama. Just think, you know you're not the first person in the world to go through this. People have done it, and under worse conditions. You just have to think..it could be worse.

I've been through some shit in my 20 years of relationships, you just got to have the trust.

While I was in high school, a wise man once told me to follow the four Fs: find 'em, feel 'em, fuck 'em, forget 'em.

I feel like you kind answered your own question with this one. If you take a step back and look at the situation from the outside, I think you'll agree that it's a lot to ask of anyone to try and not only maintain a relationship when you only see that person 3-4 times a month, but also to continue building when your lives are completely separated. The other part of the problem is that one person in the relationship always needs more assurance than the other, without that immediate gratification that person goes wanting no matter how close you are when you're together.

You can make shit work. Just gotta ask yourself if she's worth it.

But I feel you. I'm having a bit of a long-distant relationship issue myself. Damn restraining order...

Women are a pain in the ass. My ex had some serious issues... Were working on just being friends now, not sure why, but she was a very distanced person in the sense of her emotions. Difinitely had some issues, up top that is. She could act one second like she couldn't be happier and that the rlationship was perfect... And the next second, not be interested in anything. Led to many fights, splits, and eventually the end.

I'll be honest rko, unless you have trouble getting women there is no reason to continue on with this chick.

I wasted almost 17 years of my life being with a women I couldn't stand after 8, but "hung in there" waiting and hoping things would turn around.

Well.......they didn't.

The bottom line, be completely honest with yourself first and then the rest will fall into place.

This is definitely it. I think WAY too many people settle for a relationship because they think they have an obligation to make it work.

Fuck that.

I'm not saying you shouldn't make an effort. But it sounds like you have. If you think you'd be happier with someone else, and there are other ladies around to meet, then move on, and don't look back.

Completely agree... Thank god it didn't last anywhere near that long :D, but I kept hoping she would change, and felt that I could change her, and before I knew it, it was me that was changing to adapt to her fucked up ways... A good lesson was learned. If a person does not want to change, you can't change them. When there is an issue in a future relationship of mine from now on, I will bring it up once with sincerity and see if they make the effort on their own...If not, I know its just going to be the same shit, NEXT.

edit: and rko, long distance is almost never a good thing... Very hard to make that work.

"Making it work" should be 50/50, when it is one person putting all the effort in, that person ends up in a not so happy place.

I say move on bro. There are plenty of women out there. Me, I'm enjoying the single life right now... But it cost too much money :L.

Just take your time before making a commitment so you're both sure you are made for each other. The time frame is generally two decades.

Women are fucking nuts. I was married and divorced, and have no intentions on ever getting married again. The thing is i get along better with my ex now than we did when we were married.

My biggest relationship fuckups were getting involved with 2 women i work with. I have to see them every day and it makes working some days a living hell.:L
