12 minutes of actual playing a game. If it's an even split, that's 6 minutes for offense and 6 for defense, not including special teams. Yea, football players have it rough.

All it takes is 1 play and a few seconds for a 350lb dude to snap your leg and end your career.

I've played both games as well... I think there is more physicality in Hockey than Handegg. Linemen collide at a distance of what...? 3 feet? I feel two more games for the fans is not a big problem.

Hockey > Handegg

Case closed.

Hockey is very tough, don't get me wrong, but football, at least inside the box (even outside as hand checks are not a simple tickling contest) is brutal and ruthless. As for your 6 minutes of actual action argument...that is a 6 minute car wreck. I would bet that the average hockey game has less than 1 minute of actual physical contact for even the most physical of player. I was a Mike and Whip (a little safety) in football and a defenseman in hockey. I played the physical roles, and I have to say that football is truly a collision sport.

I think we can all agree that hockey is the better sport, but football has consistant hitting on every play. There's more contact in it. Just simple fact. Doesn't make hockey less of a 'man's game', just says there's more hitting.

Handegg has consistent hitting but at very short distances.

They say that some of the harder hits to the head in football measure more than 130 G's. An impact of 120 G's would be like a severe car accident that you would survive by wearing a seat belt.

3, 4 yards???

That is 10-12 feet, just as far as any "legal" hockey hit should be.

Also, F=MA...don't forget the M part of that equation....

You do realize who your talking to, right?

Force=Mass*Acceleration

Football players are BIG dudes in comparison to an average hockey player. Football requires much more muscle mass.

This...and it is not so much the size itself as the size disparity, sometimes.

As a linebacker, I was regularly being hit at full speed by guys 50-60 pounds heavier than me and hitting people 30-40 pounds lighter then me.

Can we at least agree that getting hit by a puck is a lot worse than a football?

Common ground here?

Both are tough but I think the toll on football players is much worse than hockey players.

If the NFL goes to 18 game schedules are the players contracts going to get bumped up 12% automatically? If not then I wouldnt expect the players to like it. If they are and most players are still against it then I think the NFL should appreciate the players thinking its not worth it.

I think 16 games is enough. Add another bye week if they want another week of revenues.
