This says one thing to me. The Yotes are going cheap to save money. They could have control the UFA market. They were 18 mil below the cap. With many many teams against the top of the cap, the Coyotes could have up the price on the guys they didn't really want and sign 4-10 guys and maybe improve their roster.
Pronger was taken to get closer to the floor and cost the team nothing in actual money. This may be to off set the Glendale city contract. Coyotes have shown they will try to get to the cap floor but not actually pay even the cap floor money. Maybe they will like Richards. High cap hit low actual money.
