occupiers set up camp in the public square outside the Vancouver Art Gallery which has traditionally been the christmas parade end point/assembly place ... it was also the place where the vancouver food bank has collected thousands of dollars worth of non-perishable food during previous years parades

well done occupiers

This Occupy "insert whatever the fuck you want here" campaign nonsense is getting annnoying. They need to just start rounding these people up and throwing them in gas chambers.

Isn't that like the opposite of the type of place they should be?

People just want to feel a part of something. It is ridiculous. Watch some of the interviews on youtube. Fucking morons.

Only if the gas is ideal...

Go-to doesn't cut it when you're trying to achieve a specific purpose, though. Location, location, location!

Then they're just lazy if they couldn't walk those extra few feet. :p

narrow sidewalks ... not enough room to set up their makeshift cardboard box latrines

I see their argument, in fact I watched a pretty good video on it, but I know the 'type' of person that is predominant in these protests. I know because they're my age, and their lazy, and they were probably the same people who thought Obama was going to give them money and buy them a car and a house.

I buy into the concept driving Occupy Wall Street. And by that I mean the intelligent concept.

I'm also all about making graduate students tax exempt. I'm not at all biased on that.

Id say the vast majority buy into the concept underlying the "Occupy" movements (see the Fox News polls) but at this point its just about being disruptive, lawless, anarchists

in our city the costs of policing/securing/cleaning this encampment has become a municipal election issue and the "dove" is probably gonna go back to pushing overpriced juice after nov 19 because of it

Precisely. A protest against corporate greed has turned into greedy civilians looking for handouts.

I am totally for that, it is ridiculous to think that a person working 40-60 hours a week and only being paid for 20 should be taxed at all. It is part of your schooling... Makes no sense.

And I've got it easy! I'm a PChemist. We always get out of work on time.

Organic chemists can work upwards of 80 hours a week. When my undergraduate organic professor was getting his PhD, he worked 8 AM to 10 PM Monday - Saturday and noon to 10 PM on Sunday. According to my calculations, that's 94 hours per week.

This semester, I'm being paid for my work, because I actually do work 20 hours per week this semester. Next semester, though, I add research to my workload, and I will receive 1 course credit for it instead of monetary compensation. That's how the school gets us.

Some commotion at the Occupy Vancouver site, after it became the site of a medical emergency and reporters were told to clear out.

First responders attended to a young man in one of the many tents at the art gallery this morning.

He was later taken away by ambulance.

Emotions ran high at the site as occupants shouted at reporters and camermen and asked them to leave the public space.

Other protestors quickly distanced themselves, saying it was simply a medical emergency and not linked to any health conditions at the tent city.

No word on the cause of the 9-1-1 call although there were unconfirmed reports it was a drug overdose

piss in the fountain, then walk across the street to the Hotel Van's desert buffet.

these "professional protesters" was have in this city are a fucking embarrassment. 90% of them haven't got a clue what they are protesting, but they are out for every single rally. as long as they are in the way, they are happy.
and our cops are powerless against them. Like those assholes who block traffic with their bikes every June. Police stand by and help them block traffic. If they run a red light, ticket them. If they occupy the oncoming lane, ticket them. if they resist, beat them mercilessly, and send them back to Quebec.

oh wait, I'm getting into tangent territory here. :lm:
