lol. you had me scratching my head .... damn, I really don't remember posting that
Had you chosen Platinum Blonde, I probably wouldn't have even checked the link.

still, gets a + for creativity.

I looked up Platinum Blonde and listened to a few minutes of their hits, I don't remember them at all.

I was going to use Scandal's "The Warrior" as a joke and looking it up I found this tidbit:
Smyth was briefly considered by Edward Van Halen to be the replacement for David Lee Roth in the band Van Halen prior to the hiring of Sammy Hagar.

It was on Wikipedia so it might not be true, but weird if it is.

Bizzle, I didnt know that Jimmie's Chicken Shack ever gained any attention out of my local area. For a few years in the mid 90s a bunch of my friends would see them play almost every weekend.

My friend/neighbor knew them pretty well, so we would see them every time they came to town. They generally stayed at her house then too (pre-MTV days), gave a couple of them a ride over after one of the shows.

Sucks that "High" became their "hit". Shows after that were filled with frat boys who only knew that song. "Pushing the Salmonella Envelope" was a freaking GREAT album, first note to last. Musically brilliant at times. Just not radio hit marketing worthy I guess.

"And the name of this song is called one chord 'cuz there's one chord in it...."

lol, one of my friends knew one of them well too, but I wouldnt know which one.

For about 15 minutes in the early-mid 90s the Baltimore music scene was actually getting some national attention. That was surprising because Baltimore isn't a town that does change well and usually a local band had to play 70s era rock covers to get anyone to go see them here. Even now there is no current music station in town, and the rock station that bills itself as current plays about as much from 20 years ago plus as it does current rock.

So when Jimmie's, Greenberry Woods, Dru Hill (lol), Splitsville, and a few others got some attention it was kind of cool. Then as soon as it began, it was over.

But I know plenty of places one can go to guarantee they hear badly bothced versions of "Smoke On The Water" on any given weekend night.
