puck, amazingly i had heard of bragg before this, and i think he's an awesome musician. he does have some pretty legit lyrics. i have some friends that basically make their life in finding little known muscians and getting me to listen to them. :)

puck...a round of applause sir. i've got a new band to like. yeaaaay! that's kinda the point of this thread anyway! and it worked! hah

see, that what rep is for :D

just revisiting the thread as i have finally had a chance to listen to Mumford & Sons album. I'm kind of undecided on them. Some tunes are very strong, and others are a bit monotonous. Maybe it'll grow on me.

If you dig the celtic feel that they have, you might also want to look into the Hothouse Flowers.
this was probably their biggest hit.... don't mind the 80s hair

I can't find a good clip of my fave from them (Hallelujah Jordan), but this one shows another side to them as well.

The second album of Days of the New. They got hit action from their first album with "Down Town", "Shelf in the Room" and "Touch, Peel, and Stand" and toured with Metallica and Jerry Cantrell, but, their second album is much more polished.

First song:

On a personal note, spent some time with relatives over the weekend and heard some stuff my uncle recorded with Terry Jacks and the Chessman in Nashville 45 years ago, but, the band broke up shorty afterward so no album was released at the time.... but it is now. Two live tracks, at the end of the cd, sound like the birth of Grunge. Seriously.

The Chessmen, 50, 's, 60's & 70's Rock Bands of the Pacific Northwest

Sounds like a bunch of Canadian house plants....

Thats the Mumford and Sons song I have heard a lot on XM radio. I like it a lot. I am not so sure on "Hold On To What You Believe".

How about Hockey? Fitting for this board:

I'm pretty sure the first band has not hit it big yet, but I really like them.

I don't follow what's popular in music, so I have no feel on these guys' popularity, but I just learned about them this year, and I think they're pretty sweet.

I saw Harding open for someone about 20 years ago but I cannot remember who.

Was it Springsteen circa 1995?

No, its bugging me so I looked him up to and saw that he opened for Springsteen then. This would have been around 1990 and I think it was at a local college.

They are not too popular but for my money you cannot get any better than Glass Tiger. Sure, they were pretty hardcore but they had a lot of heart and soul too.

I love them too! Every time I hear their song Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone) I just sit waiting until the incomparable Bryan Adams joins in. Pure musical magic.

I kind of remember that song.

Had you chosen Platinum Blonde, I probably wouldn't have even checked the link.

still, gets a + for creativity.
