That's a better tune than the anthem.
It is way too funny that I just noticed this post, maybe he does get us?
still waiting for your call on that offer btwGetting junk mail or other flyers with pictures of my house on them. I got one the other day with a faded picture of my house on the envelope and full color ones inside. Trying to get me to buy insurance, kind of like mob tactics - "nice house here, it'd be a shame if anything happened to it".
I always have to resist the temptation to find the agent's home address and send them something similar.Getting junk mail or other flyers with pictures of my house on them. Harsh but fair.I messaged the one desktop admin I work with, if he had any ideas. His response to me was:
"Hmmmmmm.......... well it is your own stupid fault for purchasing a PC that had McAfee preinstalled on it......."
Will see how this goes.
Thanks!Harsh but fair.
Windows 11 is basically one giant advertising platform disguised as an OS. And McAfee is a giant piece of adware disguised as a security tool. Combined with a home version of the OS, they are competing for resources.
I don't really have any advice for you (other than don't buy machines with McAfee). I always install a fresh version of Enterprise or Pro Operating Systems on new machines because I am convinced Microsoft turns off adware features in those versions so as not to piss off large companies. They always say it doesn't matter. Will be interesting to see what HP does. Maybe you can ask for them to send you a clean OS install disk (without all the bloatware)
I would offer you a key for Pro, but my base ISO image has the key baked in, and I don't know what it is.
Believe it or not, Groupon will occasionally have deals for license keys. You'd still have to download the install image but the keys do work. I used one to put Office on my kid's computer. It was like 13 bucks. I've seen Windows 11 Pro keys for like 30.If this goes nowhere that is going to be what I do next, even if I have to purchase it.
Thanks I will look on Groupon!I like HP machines generally, but then again, I always install a fresh OS. I have an Omen Gaming laptop and loved it right up until they told me I had to replace the entire system board because the WiFi adapter, which is soldered to the system board, went out. Other than that, good machine and easy to work on.
I have a Microcenter here, and they sell desktops by this company called PowerSpec and they are fabulous. No bloatware at all.

edit: Holy shit. I might buy one just to have it.
