I don't need a combo religious service/military display at sporting events.

I don't need to be reminded that God Fucked America.

This one from two seasons ago made me irrationally angry for some reason

I’ve never been able to find this fucking thread (which also drives me fucking nuts) when I think of this.

I’m watching Bosch right now and watching his lame daughter Maddie drink a beer. I fucking hate people who stick their upper lip inside the bottle rim for their swig. Pussies like that should not drink beer.

Not that I like deep throating a bottle or anything, but if you’re gonna drink, drink. If you’re going to sip have a mug of tea.

That's a better tune than the anthem.

Personally, and because this is the NHL forum, and because I’m a lapsed hockey fan, I always fucking loved it when the Flyers rolled out Kate Smith (literally and figuratively) for God Bless America. Between that, and Roger Doucet belting out Oh Canada or the Soviet national anthem, anthems have never been performed better at any sporting event.

It is way too funny that I just noticed this post, maybe he does get us? :D

The reason it reminded me of two stories, not sure if I ever shared before?

So outside the supermarket the one day there were the religious folks trying to pawn their church off on you. They had that same sign up.
I was in a mood, so I had to engage. :D I asked, who gets us?

The person literally seemed shocked and went rambling on how I need Jesus in my life..blah... blah ... blah and even wanted to pray for me.
Before they started their prayer, I mentioned... Oh, you know Jesus (the hispanic pronunciation) because I owe him money for cutting my grass last week. And let him know I will leave it in the mailbox the next time he stops by.

At that point, the person knew I was an asshole and just moved on to the next person.

Then yet another time this same thing happened. With me being in a mood and this time my wife was there. And she literally beat the shit out of me for saying what I did.
The story starts similarly with me asking, and they went on about Jesus and that I need him blah... blah..blah...
That's when I said, oh I thought you were going to say Ramone gets us. Because the way he puts his tongue on my balls gets me every time.
This time it went over like a lead balloon. If it wasn't for my wife being there and pulling me away from them. I am not sure where this would have went. :D

Unfortunately, I am tame any more and don't do this stuff as much because I hate most people. On top of not having the energy to engage them anymore.

I had some religious people ring my doorbell. As I was expecting a package, I opened it. Instead of pointing to my no soliciting sign and sending them on their way, I should have engaged them, asking if they know Trump and that he is a false prophet. I could have gotten a lot of mileage out of that one.

Getting junk mail or other flyers with pictures of my house on them. I got one the other day with a faded picture of my house on the envelope and full color ones inside. Trying to get me to buy insurance, kind of like mob tactics - "nice house here, it'd be a shame if anything happened to it".

I always have to resist the temptation to find the agent's home address and send them something similar.

For me though it's the texts and calls that are worse, primarily because the cvnt that had my phone number before me (I've had it 16 years) still uses it to sign up for stuff and run scams. I get constant calls asking me to sell houses I don't own. I thanked the last one for giving me a new address, and assured him I was going to go to that address and kill her and solve both of our problems. It's fun when they get freaked out.

So I needed a new personal computer. I purchased an HP and naturally it had McAfee pre installed on it.
When there "trial" ended I uninstalled it from my laptop. It bricked the computer!

I got the HP recovery tool and rebuilt the computer and what did it do. It essentially put on the same image that comes with the computer and has McAfee preinstalled on it! So I uninstalled it again. It bricked the computer again.

I just recovered this computer again and talking to HP support to remove McAfee from my computer without bricking it!

NOTE: It crashes right at the end of the uninstall and not even during a reboot. Not sure what McAfee is holding on to with the Win OS but I am not as proficient with Win 11 vs the older OS's as I don't work with these anymore. Hence why I am calling them to fix this stupid crap.

I messaged the one desktop admin I work with, if he had any ideas. His response to me was:
"Hmmmmmm.......... well it is your own stupid fault for purchasing a PC that had McAfee preinstalled on it......." :D

Will see how this goes.

Harsh but fair. :thumb:

Windows 11 is basically one giant advertising platform disguised as an OS. And McAfee is a giant piece of adware disguised as a security tool. Combined with a home version of the OS, they are competing for resources.

I don't really have any advice for you (other than don't buy machines with McAfee). I always install a fresh version of Enterprise or Pro Operating Systems on new machines because I am convinced Microsoft turns off adware features in those versions so as not to piss off large companies. They always say it doesn't matter. Will be interesting to see what HP does. Maybe you can ask for them to send you a clean OS install disk (without all the bloatware)

I would offer you a key for Pro, but my base ISO image has the key baked in, and I don't know what it is.

Thanks!

Yeah that is the issue I have as my son has an HP but it is all baked in so I can't use his either.
Totally an oversight on my part when I purchased this stupid thing. Will keep you posted as I am hold right now but from the way they are talking McAfee is essentially in all their images like this. So note to anyone, don't purchase an HP unless you plan on doing as @forty_three mentions above, installing a fresh OS.

If this goes nowhere that is going to be what I do next, even if I have to purchase it.

I like HP machines generally, but then again, I always install a fresh OS. I have an Omen Gaming laptop and loved it right up until they told me I had to replace the entire system board because the WiFi adapter, which is soldered to the system board, went out. Other than that, good machine and easy to work on.

I have a Microcenter here, and they sell desktops by this company called PowerSpec and they are fabulous. No bloatware at all.

If this goes nowhere that is going to be what I do next, even if I have to purchase it.
Believe it or not, Groupon will occasionally have deals for license keys. You'd still have to download the install image but the keys do work. I used one to put Office on my kid's computer. It was like 13 bucks. I've seen Windows 11 Pro keys for like 30.

edit: Holy shit. I might buy one just to have it.

Thanks I will look on Groupon!

As for Microcenter, they are awesome, unfortunately I think the closest one is in Cleveland. I purchased from them a few times while in Atlanta. Actually got the wife's MAC there about 7 years ago for a great price.

BTW...I am using her MAC right now since I need a computer. I never was a huge MAC user, this thing is a PITA to use if you don't use one. I do know this thing even though it is old, amazing how well it still works.

So last night the GF and I went out to a brewpub with a friend. We got beers and wings, which were really good. The women-folk got huge salads and we all took stuff home for dinner tonight.

The boxes got switched. Our friend decided NOT to correct the problem, so she got my Thai Curry Wings and I'm left with her beet salad. I hate beets. The GF hates beets. I might have to get takeout or something.

People who say "besides the point". It is "beside the point".

People who say "all of the sudden". It is "all of a sudden".

People who ask for directions from the gate guard when getting on base. There is a visitor's center right fucking there!

People who can't figure out self checkout.

what drove me fucking nuts today was

I put my toast in the toaster/airfryer oven while I let my dogs out before going to work so I could have toast while I waited in traffic......

someone put the settings off toast and on airfry so it did not toast as I didnt turn the airfry timer on only the toaster which just turns into a timer at that point...........
