being about 35 to 40 miles from home and getting 2 flats in less than 10 minutes and you're only carrying 1 spare tube!!! :gaah:

Amen to that!

I will add getting about 5 miles into a 9 mile loop on a mountain bike trail and having your crank arm come loose and your allen wrench is back in your car.

Any suggestions for a decent, but not too expensive, mountain bike? I'd like to get into it.

Have you invested in a GoPro cam? I was recently at a water park that doubles as a mountain bike track and all of the bikers had GoPros, seemed like a great use for it.

I don't use one, but a lot of the guys I know that ride have them. It's great ammo against asshole drivers that get too close because they don't feel you should be on their roads.

I've owned a couple of Giants over the years. I think they're a reasonable build that won't set you back too, too much. I would suggest staying away from disk brakes. I have them on my current bike and they suck major cock when trying to break on a steep incline; unless of course, you think going head over heels on your bike is kind of cool.

I always was an advocate of Haro bikes, and not just because they used to pay me to ride them.

Haro started as a BMX company and moved into mountain bikes when all of us old guys couldn't ride the little bikes anymore. I love the quality.

Haro Bikes

They have a range from 400 up to a few grand. Not sure what you want to pay. They have decent components and a solid reputation for building bulletproof bikes. Mine is going on 10 years old and have had to replace a few things here and there, but it's been solid.

Definitely avoid anything sold at a place like Dick's or Sports Authority. You probably can't go wrong with well known bike brands like Giant, Specialized, Trek, Felt or Fuji. But some MTB specialists like Haro, Rocky Mountain, Santa Cruz, Yeti or Jamis might get you some technology that the big boys don't have yet.

I don't have one yet, but I am thinking of getting one. Mainly because you never know what you are going to capture out in the woods. Last ride (before the crank issue) I encountered a deer running up the trail ahead of me. Was pretty cool.

My only worry is capturing my ultimate demise behind a pair of handlebars. So it's 50/50 whether I really want one.

I haven't even looked into the different models yet. I used to ride a Haro bmx bike back in the day. Good to know. Thanks.

So, anyone in or around Charlotte North Carolina have access to a Molotov Cocktail? I have an address.

On a completely unrelated note - When you think you are buying from Barnesandnoble.com, you might actually be buying from the "Barnes and Noble Marketplace" which is a network of scammers, errr, "sellers" who hawk their wares under the bn website. And, potentially and just as a completely random example not in any way related to anything real, you could potentially buy something on August 11th of one year, and have it allegedly ship on August 18th and when you still haven't received it as of August 24th, and email them and they don't respond and then when you call them after still not receiving it on August 27th - they will tell you that you have to wait until the item is officially "late" (September 16th) to have any hope of getting a refund. And that's pretty shitty.

Especially when you have gotten frustrated, and gone to Amazon.com on August 25th (now that the item is back in stock) and received it August 27th.

And the Seller "Movie Mars" is a complete wanker.

NRA: 'Children Can Have Fun At The Shooting Range'

boy they sure dont try to win any PR battles do they

ess than two days after a 9-year-old girl in Arizona accidentally shot and killed a gun range instructor who was showing her how to fire an Uzi, the National Rifle Association on Wednesday touted new ways for children to "have fun" at shooting ranges.

I was watching an excerpt of a CBC interview with a rep from the Burgers and Bullets establishment yesterday and the exchange went something like this:

CBC reporter: "Do you think a 9 year old child can be trained to handle a UZI responsibly?"
B&B guy: "All you have to do is take a look at the Middle East, there are kids running all over the desert with AK-47s"
CBC reporter: "I don't believe anyone is condoning that, sir"

/Also, I wonder if the B&B guy realizes he just compared Arizona to the war torn Middle East.

I saw that. I had to double take it in.

Listen, when this ebola nonsense gets mixed up with rabies and the zombie apocalypse kicks into high gear you'll be glad there are 3rd graders that are capable of head shots. I think archery should be mandatory from kindergarten on and we should probably start giving them HGH so that they can keep up when we need to move.
