Oh.
i really want Werth...that'd be an awesome bat in the lineup. our lineup is so close to being complete too...the only spots i see us as weak are catcher (sanchez for the future), first base maybe (as much as i like GFJ, i'm not sure about his consistancy yet), and maybe a spot in the outfield (gorkys??), and of course ALL of our pitching. seeing lincoln go back down was a bit disheartening...morton showed his potential last year in a few starts, but then just IMPLODED this year.
Kratz and Jaramillo can hold down catcher as about league average in a platoon. The Pirates should look to package Doumit to an AL team for a B pitching prospect in the high minors, I think. Catcher and shortstop are both purely defensive positions.
Adam Dunn and Derek Lee will be available this off-season, as well, I believe. Either of those guys could push Jones to the outfield. I would either sign one of those two or Werth, leaning toward Werth, since that would make our team better defensively.
Gorkys will be nothing more than a bench bat. Think Milledge as a ceiling. It's really disappointing to say that, though, because he is a toolsy player. He's just not putting it all together. If he does, he could be a top-notch trading chip, though. With 'Cutch and Tabata in the outfield, we don't need anymore speedy, but soft-hitting outfielders. Those two will play at or above their positional offensive averages, but RF is a more offensive position and requires a little more power.
