First no-no in Tampa Bay history. Garza only walked 1 hitter. Max Scherzer of Detroit had one himself into the 6th, then lost it on a Matt Joyce grand slam. 5th no-no in the majors this year.

Yes, 5th* no hitter, which is pretty incredible.
*6th
cool?
With the all-minor league batting lineup my Tigers have right now, there'll be another thread tomorrow entitled "OT - Shields throws no hitter." Sad time to be a Tiger's fan. Congrats to Garza anyway though.
i'd say, hey PIRATES FAN here, but i feel like the counter would merely be LIONS FAN!
The Pirates actually have an alright lineup. It's the starting pitching that sucks. And boy does it ever suck.
if only...if only i had nuts, then i could relate. hahahaha. i'll just relate it to childbirth (which, i'm telling you HAS to be worse).
yeah, i agree, i really do. in fact, it's really at that point where, when i look over our lineup i'm at a loss as too why we lose as many as we do. there's a TON of upside on it, but i'm just being a typical pirates fan and trying, realllllly hard, to NOT be optimistic. i'd rather be surprised with low expectations, than disappointed with high ones.
Well, since starting pitching is the most important part of a Major League team, and since the Pirates have the worst starting pitching in the league, and since most of the guys who can turn that around are in AA or lower, don't worry about being surprised all too soon.
Although, I would like to see a deal of Paul Maholm for J.C. Ramirez, and another involving perhaps Dotel and Carasco for Montero. They're not going to win this year, but getting guys like Montero (huge plus bat at catcher) and Ramirez (to-be #2 type starting pitcher) along with the hopeful development of the young studs in the lineup, Lincoln and Morton (please live up to your potential), and signings along the lines of Brandon Webb and Jason Werth (if he's not locked up long-term before he's available), they could contend, or at least compete, as early as next year.
