Yikes... Vonn airlifted to hostital after crashing into gate and is now in hospital.

"The American lost balance on her right leg while landing after a jump. Her ski came off immediately, and Vonn slid off course and hit a gate before coming to a standstill.

Vonn received medical treatment on the slope for 12 minutes before being taken to the hospital."

Sounds bad, but the video isn't too horrible. That said, all it takes is falling in the wrong position to be in big trouble. Prayers her way.

According to reports, the doctor who examined Vonn says he believes she suffered a tibial plateau fracture -- also known as a break in the shinbone.

Here's a quick vid of my crash skiing last week. Skiing some glades with a buddy of mine. He was standing where I could turn to below so I tried to cut through two trees. It looked okay going into it, but didn't turn out so good...

She as an ACL, MCL tear as well as tibial plateau fracture. That fracture is not at all surprising with an ACL tear. The ACL acts to hold your tibia and femur together, and when torn the femur will smash into the top of the tibia, resulting in a fracture. The break is rather negligible though. She'll be back in 6-10 months. Amazing how ACL rehab has morphed.

I imagine she will. The guy is the best, and if you're an elite athlete who wants to get back ASAP, you go to him. The guy probably spends 90% of his time doing ACL reconstruction.
