just seams like there are more catching brothers than any other position in baseball

Well, there's the Molina brothers, but, what others are there? I'm not terribly familiar with baseball siblings.

eh, there are a few more, in history, just seems to be like if there are 2 brothers and one is a catcher, the other will be one as well...not as often with other positions

Also, I'm at work, running five-minute reactions. I need something else to do. So I'm here, in the I'm Bored thread, as I'm bored. Neither of my co-workers nor my boss came in today.

I don't feel like working but you seem good with stats and numbers so maybe you could help me quote some of these commercial insurance prospects for me.

You know, that sounds tempting, but I think I'll stick with my reactions.

Hey Nas, looks like the Yankees are the front-runners for Lee now. They're offering Montero, who is an elite prospect, but I honestly think the M's should look for more. But it is a better deal than the one the Twins were offering, so they at least have that going for them.

Montero's a catcher right now, and has a big bat, but there are questions about whether or not he can stay at catcher. If he can, his bat will be a huge plus. If he can't his bat will still be a plus, just not as big of a plus.

To illustrate this, I'll pull a study on positional averages. This is the average OPS of regulars by position:

C - .725
1B - .865
2B - .775
3B - .775
SS - .710
LF - .795
CF - .770
RF - .810

So unless he moves to short stop (which is not very likely) his offensive value will diminish.

Just thought you'd want to know, Nas.

Thanks, Dark. I had heard Montero was maybe a part of a potential deal, but didn't really know they were the favorites. Makes me kind of sick finding that out.

I would not be pleased if the Yankees pulled this deal because I honestly don't know who would stop them.

Lee
Sabathia
Pettit
Burnette
Hughes

That's an even more absurd rotation than the one they have now. Plus Cano having an MVP-caliber season, with A-Rod, Jeter, Texiera, Swisher, et al in their lineup. Not. Fair.

Looks like talks have fallen apart over the 2nd player the evils would send our way. Lee remains a Mariner, for now,

Good. Honestly, I can't think of another worthwhile prospect in the Yankees' system. Perhaps the M's want Hughes, too, or something. They should be able to get a prospect on the level of a Dustin Ackley type for Lee, though.

Hey Nas, Lee to the Rangers. Sudden change, there. But you got Justin Smoak, who is Major League ready, and a prospect on the level of an Ackley like I said you should get. I think you'll like Smoak once he adjusts to Major League pitching. His power is real.

What position does he play?
