I don't know a whole lot about Smoak, and how ready he is, but Dark said he's still adjusting to major league pitching. He'll get at bats as a DH even if they play Smoak at first, I'd think.

Smoak was thier starting first basebman, so I'd imagine he would beat out Branyan, but who else is taking the DH spot on the M's?
