That's a bummer, but on the bright side you know the Red Sox will be right back in the hunt again next year. The Red Sox have won 2 World Series since the Mariners last even made the playoffs. 116 wins and they didn't even make it to the World Series. That still irritates me.

Me too. I've seen a lot of things go wrong for my teams, Super Bowl XL, the Sharks choking more than once in the playoffs, Gonzaga blowing it against UCLA back in 2005, but the 2001 Mariners is the one that stings the most. That team was so good, I still can't believe they couldn't make it.

But anyway, football season is about to start to I won't dwell on that anymore.

I think the UCLA game stings most for me, John. With all the upsets that happened that year, you could say, had they won that game, we could've very easily won it all. That 2008 ArenaCup was tough too, since I was at the game.

This is my thought as well. But surprise means 8-8 or 9-7. Which, in the mediocre NFC West, might be good enough to make the playoffs.
