Of the three I've read, it was my least favorite as well. I don't like books that center around protagonists who make me facepalm every other page.

It's just filled with plotholes. Anyone writes that today and it doesn't get published. Some nice language, sure, but it's always like, "Why wouldn't you just do this?"

In a way, it just doesn't transfer to modern times at all, whereas something like Macbeth or Hamlet still feels applicable.
