For the sake of his rep, Miguel Cabrera should reject any thought of sitting out final game - CBSSports.com

What a stupid article. Miggy's played 160 out of 161 games and now he'll be 'selfish' if he sits out the game tonight. What if Leyland tells him he can't play, does that still make him selfish?

I would prefer he sit. Tonight is a totally meaningless game and no need to risk injury. I don't believe for one second anyone with any common sense would feel his reputation tarnished for sitting out a meaningless game.

So let's review:

He leads in BA by 7 pts.

He leads in HRs by 1.

He leads in RBIs by 11.

As you said, he's played in every game this year except one. How many players do that these days?

Dumb.

Only the Pirates can give up a run with no hits and no errors.

there was a Willie Mays Hayes slide in MLB a couple of nights ago.
the guy slid short, just stood up and walked back to the dugout before he even got tagged.
can't find on youtube... anyone else see that? don't remember the teams, of course.

Big Break Greenbrier Player James Lepp Video Biography | Golf Channel

pretty funny
Kikkor Golf // James Lepp Blog - What's the Kikkor

On the second challenge, where Chan reacted like he won the Big Break…twice in a row, well, he actually took about 6 minutes to hit each shot. The commentary on the sideline was priceless. I guess he needed time to digest the grass he just ate.

Hope Scherzer is completely healthy.

And thank God Cabrera is playing...his reputation is saved! :hail:

I watched the Michael Richards episode of Seinfeld's Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. Actually kind of touching at times.

Why do people get so touchy about long standing records?

Old fogey sports writers always go apeshit when someone is on the cusp of history, especially when the record was previously thought untouchable.

I remember when Ripken was approaching 2130, some dingleberry suggested he should sit down on 2131 so his name and Lou Gehrig's could be side by side. Now everyone is going nuts about Cabrera and should he play or not. All he's doing is what he does. Shows up and plays. Well.

I just heard some doofus suggest that Brees purposely not throw a TD this weekend. So Unitas will stay on top with him. It's idiotic. And if anyone worships the aura of Johnny U, it's me.

But records are made to be broken. And the best you can hope for is if the record once thought unobtainable is going to get broken, it gets broken by someone you can respect.

I am sure that Lou would have no problems with Cal. Johnny none with Drew. Yaz I am sure has nothing against Miggy.

Let it go. Enjoy the accomplishment. Because from behind your keyboard you are LIGHT YEARS away from doing it yourself. So STFU.

Agreed.

When it comes down to it, these guys should just get on the field and play their game. It's their job, it's what they're paid to do, and they should do it well, independent of potential history-making.

As an aside, in my opinion, dingleberry is under utilized.

Mike Trout grounds out. That ends any last hope of him winning the batting title
