I think its just a bad call. I think you can dive whenever. At least as a kid I learned that because you can run past the base that diving would actually slow you down on the way to first.

I do realize that a lot of announcers do not like the Yankees either so when I have heard announcers say things like 'the Yankees expect to get the calls and are upset when they dont" I take it with a grain of salt. CC Sabathia got a lot of 'respect' from the umpire tonight so it just bugged me a bit when the Yankees argued a ton.
