what are trade-waivers?

I don't fully understand it, but it's a way to trade a player after the trade deadline. You have to put them on waivers, and then if a team picks them up you attempt to make a deal. Apparently it doesn't work out all that often. A LOT of guys have been on waivers this year.

Aw man, and Pittsburgh could have two of the big 3 Head and Shoulders dudes. Come on Nutting! I know it's like a gargantuan investment that will never happen (owed $138M over next 6 years), but from a player standpoint, it's perfect.
