Last week I got really drunk at a bar in my neighborhood for a friends birthday. Like...out of character drunk. Probably because we had been drinking something called Aquavit in the park before that. Because I housesat for a couple who went to Norway and they brought me back multiple tiny bottles of Aquavit. Turns out that stuff really packed a punch.

Anyways, sometime in my drunkenness I realize my purse was gone. Which held my wallet, my brand new iphone 5, cash, make-up, car keys, house keys, even my dogs leash. I flipped out solidly for about two hours. Including throwing a glass when I thought my not-boyfriend wasn't paying enough attention to my plight.

I spent the next day missing an entire day's worth of (hourly paid) work. I get my old flip phone activated, cancel all my accounts, spend the rest of the available money I have replacing things like the dog's leash, my anti-perspirant, and chapstick. And I cry a lot. My flip phone is shit and is not delivering half of my calls or messages. I have to get a new car key made. I hate life. I also never check my mailbox.

Yesterday my roommie finally checks our mail and someone had dropped off a note saying they found my purse. I called him today and he starts telling me that he saw a homeless man sifting through my purse and he questioned him and then grabbed my bag once the homeless guy offered to sell it to him. But then he also says he can meet me tonight and wonders if I'm offering a reward since he's a laid off carpenter who has been having a hard time and is a really nice guy. I say I can't since losing that bag fucked my finances up. But we agree to meet anyways.

I bring my dog (all nine pounds of her), my male roommate, and his 70 pound dog and we meet at a nearby taqueria that always has a security guard at the door. Annnnnd..... the dude just gives me my purse. With my phone in it. And everything else (minus $40 cash and two giftcards). I gave him $40 and conjured up some girl tears and that was that. Story's over.

And the moral of the story is:

Don't fuck with Aquavit.

Glad to hear there are still good people in the world (and in California, at that!).

AJ Burnett to the Phillies. 1 Year, $16M. Yeah, have fun with that. Thanks for 2 great years AJ, but no way I'd give you $16M. Citizens Park won't do him any favors...and holy old roster.

Should have extended the QO so we'd at least get a draft pick, but yeah, I wouldn't have gone over $14 million for him.

The Phanatic feels not satisfied about this development.

I honestly think the Pirates didn't want him back, hence no QO. I agree though, was hoping for that just for the compensation pick, but why do it if you don't want the guy? All this said: they best spend a bit of this money. Doesn't HAVE to be now (I'd like some of it to go to a 1B), but it needs to be put into the team. I've never called Nutting cheap (he's really not), and the salary shedding they've done in the past has been smart baseball moves, not cheap moves...but if this money goes unspent and the team doesn't make some improvements, I'll be peeved. I'm okay not upgrading RF, because we have a RF waiting in the wings (Polanco), and I'm okay leaving a SP spot up for grabs essentially (heck, Taillon approacheth; and there's 4 guys to battle for those 4/5 slots), but I'm really not okay with the 1B situation as it stands.

There's nothing on the 1B market right now, though. Morales isn't worth losing a draft pick to sign. All the trade candidates are either as unknown as Lambo or would cost too much in terms of assets for what they would bring to the team. Honestly, at this point, Lambo is probably the best option at first we have available to us. If he doesn't do it, then we can look to the trade market and see if anything's changed.
