I want the Cards to roll right over the Sox, making the Pirates the team which gave the World Series winners their toughest fight.

The Caps have played that role a few times. I'll be honest with you... it doesn't help. :(

I'm sure I'll log 0 minutes of World Series watching time and care 0 about which high-spending team frequently appearing in the World Series recently wins it all.

The difference is that the Pirates made the playoffs for the first time in 21 years. There were no expectations. Every win was gravy.

The Caps usually get into the playoffs with expectations.

It hurt when the Pirates lost, but I could fall back on the fact that the Pirates had their first winning season I was old enough to remember, and that was a sufficiently big deal to make me happy. The Cards winning the Series would make the Pirates' season even stronger, I feel. We made the playoffs, but ran into the eventual World Series winners. As a young team, that's a powerful step in development, and invaluable experience for future postseasons.

So it hurts more for us. Thanks.

...And those Super Bowls and Stanley Cups. Wanna kick my dog while you're here, D'stone? ;)

Just pointing out the differences in context. If the Bucs get back next year, and the Cards beat them again, I'm going to be rooting for the Cards to fail. :suds:

I hope he moonwalks out of the presser into retirement...

It was ironic, switching back and forth between the Wings and Tiger games Saturday. At one point, both teams were winning 2-1 and both teams wind up losing 5-2. :L

Twas not a good evening... :gaah:

Vancouver sports fans did not enjoy Saturday either...

Canucks lost (at least they got a point)
BC Lions lost (and have likely lost a home playoff game)
Whitecaps lost (and were eliminated from the playoffs)

This is essentially my feeling. I'll watch because I have a native New Englander as a roommate, so it'll simply be on. But everytime I mention this stuff to Cards fan friends, they come back with 20 rebuttals, all of which result in my rolling my eyes. No, you will never be "America's Team" of the year because you're the winningest team in the NL. Also, you insist on putting your franchise, players, and fanbase on a pedestal above all of baseball because you don't spend *quite* as much as those other guys, and you "play the game the right way". And your fans? Oh, golly, there's no more knowledgeable fanbase out there! Baseball capitol of the world! Yessirree. I respect the Cards because they build their teams in such a savvy way...but I will never cheer for them.

Brad Ausmus rumo(u)red to be in consideration as the next Tigers manager. Dunno how I feel aboot that.

He has no experience, but he's hot, so I'm kinda ok with it. :eyebrows:

Or at least he was hot back when he played. Haven't seen any recent pics of him...
