Chin up DS:

Over 11 mil brackets submitted to ESPN's college challenge. Only 66 still perfect after seven lower seeded teams advance. #marchmadness

Hi baseball thread.

I'm conducting a highly experimental fantasy baseball keeper league. Point values are heavily rooted in SABRmetrics, often precise to two decimal places. Rosters are gigantic, there are way too many scoring categories, and it's all-in-all going to be much harder to maintain your team than should be necessary.

So who wants in?

Count me in, but only if the players; WAG's get stats counted as well. Or stats for confirmed slump busters and things of that nature.

Since this is the Pangos and Bell thread:

SAN DIEGO -- Kevin Pangos scored 26 points and Gary Bell Jr. added 17 for eighth-seeded Gonzaga, which beat Marcus Smart and the ninth-seeded Oklahoma State Cowboys 85-77 in the West region of the NCAA tournament on Friday.

The Bulldogs (29-6), in their 16th straight NCAA tournament, will play top-seeded Arizona on Sunday.

The refs called 61 fouls, and five players fouled out. Pangos made 12 of 14 free throws, most of them in the closing minutes.

Smart had 23 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and six steals for Oklahoma State (21-13). He is projected to be a high NBA draft pick. He passed up the NBA draft last year. The Cowboys won five of seven games coming in, a run that coincided with Smart's returning from a three-game suspension for shoving a Texas Tech fan.

So UNC just escaped against Providence. This one goes under things that drive me crazy when coaches can't use BASIC MATH.

The game is tied. Providence has the ball. There is 1:00 left on the clock.

Providence should be pushing the tempo and try to get a shot off by 0:45 so they ensure themselves 2 possessions and their opponents only one.

What do they do? Wait to 0:36 to shoot and miss, enabling UNC to hold the ball until the end and take the last shot.

What the fuck?!? Is it that hard to figure this stuff out? You see boneheaded stuff like this ALL THE TIME in college and pro sports. It drives me batty that organizations and schools with millions and billions of dollars don't have a stat guy helping the coach saying "whatever you do here, the guys need to shoot the ball with 44-47 seconds left." That gives your team two shots and the other only one - odds are good your team wins in this situation. What do they do? Squander that advantage.

I guess what eloco is saying is that the Providence coach's strategy in the final minute went straight from the frying pan into the friar...

lol. Also, where the #$)# is Mercer?

That dude's dance after the game was hilarious. In hockey, people would have been offended. ;)

I think I heard somewhere in Georgia (maybe Macon?)

Yes, according to Wiki - "Mercer University is a private, coeducational university located in the U.S. state of Georgia."

I suppose I could have just looked it up originally. haha.

The Mercer coach had a great post-game soundbite (including a Ric Flair "Woooooooo!" and a "Praise the Lord!)

Lol. He either had surgery on his brain or he has the worst stylist ever. He outcoached Williams, but botched it at the end.

UNC deserved to lose just based on Roy Williams' eye sore of a sports jacket.

Guys.

I had VCU in the Final Four and Duke as my champion.

I think I'm done on the second day.

Dayton did it again (just knocked off Syracuse)

SPOILER ALERT!!

Some of us paused our DVRs when they showed Morgan Miller and haven't seen the ending yet.
