I'm not a huge fan of the Pirates' fourth round pick. He only has one pitch. I guess he throws hard, though. Their fifth round pick, however, is a big, projectable high schooler. 6'7", 200 lb RHP Tyler Glasnow. With that kind of build, he'll likely add a lot of velocity as he develops. Could be a nice pick.

Seeing the new Kathy Ireland pictures makes me feel old and kind of sad.

I just got back from Thessa's party, it was awesome!

Better check your Facebook settings before posting a party invitation online.

A teenage girl in Germany who forgot to mark her birthday invitation as private on Facebook fled her own party when more than 1,500 guests showed up and around 100 police officers, some on horses, were needed to keep the crowd under control.

Eleven people were temporarily detained, one police officer was injured, dozens of girls wearing flip-flops cut their feet on broken glass and firefighters had to extinguish two small fires at the 16th birthday party in Hamburg, police spokesman Mirko Streiber said Sunday.

The birthday girl, identified only as Thessa, went into hiding, Streiber said, but "nonetheless the party was a hit."

I'm liking the Pirates' draft strategy so far. Power bats and power arms, projectable builds in all their players. The hitters can add power, the pitchers can add velocity.

Seriously, how bored do you have to be to go to a party for someone you don't know?

For the second consecutive year, a kid I played Little League with has been drafted. Joey Leonard last year was drafted by the Braves, and this year his little brother Johnny went to Arizona. They're both short stops. My little brother frustrated Johnny quite a bit on the basketball court, for what it's worth. Would not let him score.

Still pretty cool to see two guys who used to dominate me when I was 8-12 go pro.

That is cool.

One of my uncles stole home plate off a pitcher who later went on to play for the Texas Rangers. It didn't come free. The pitcher, trying to throw him out, drilled him in the back as he crossed the plate lol.

I took a fastball in the wrist from Joey. He threw hard when we were 10. He was at 70 mph already.

I never got a hit off either of them, but I once reached first on a error that Joey committed at short, too, which is kind of cool.

But stealing home play off a Major League pitcher? That's just awesome.

The Leonards' dad, by the way, was a minor league ballplayer himself. He made it to AAA, then threw out his arm and had to retire.

My dad said he knew he was gonna do it, too. :D I believe he got on base by hitting a triple to begin with...also very cool.

Trevor Gretzky was just picked by the Cubs.

That's kind of neat. I've been watching the live draft on MLB.com, and there have been a ton of guys drafted who are related for former big leaguers.

The Pirates have been mostly taking CF and RHP this year. One 1B and one 3B, but in the first 11 picks, 3 CF and 6 RHP. Everyone they've taken, though, have projectable bodies. Lots of room to bulk up and add power. Tall, rangy guys. I like that philosophy.

The baseball season is months old, and the draft is happening now.

I'm pretty sure a guy I played basketball against in high school just got drafted.

EDIT: Nope, just a kid with the same name.
