Don't discount the power of the handwritten word. Letters are more personal than any other form of communication other than talking to a person face-to-face. You can sleepwalk through phone calls, emails, and instant messages, but when you put pen to paper, you have to actually think hard about what you write. Each letter is personalized, only you could write it.
