Pirates take game two of their series with the Phillies 6-3. If they sweep them tomorrow, the Pirates will be 29-29, the latest they've been .500 since they were 30-30 after a 13-game winning streak in 2006. Either way, taking at least 2 of 3 from a team like the Phillies has to do awesome things for this young team's psyche.

You only have two true "regulars" (that is to say, guys with enough at bats to qualify for league rankings) with OPS over .800. That probably has a lot to do with it. I know that's the Pirates' problem this year.

Yeah, I know. Somehow...every year the Tigers are reduced to having half their roster be from AAA Toledo by the end of May. Every single season! Makes one wonder what the higher-ups in the orgnization are doing during the winter every year?
