12 games, -11 already - second worst on the team behind Wennberg, who was drafted in 2013 and is a rookie.

Jack Johnson, Blue Jackets - Stats - NHL.com - Players

This was one of the biggest and best trades Dumbo has ever made, massive addition by subtraction alone, the skill level and impact Carter brings is just a bonus.

I'd say getting both are huge in LA Kings history but for different reasons.

Greztky put LA hockey into the national spotlight and brought some focus to LA. Keep in mind that when Gretzky came here, so did additional business that's not hockey related. He helped the city of LA financially just as much as he helped the LA Kings. Damn shame he couldn't win one when he was here though.

Carter was huge because every piece of a Cup team was in place except a player like him in 2012. Once he arrived, it put all the pieces in the right location and eventually led to the Cup, which Carter had a huge hand in. He also matured as a pro and at age 29 is a veteran leader on this team (did I see him wearing an A when Kopitar was out? Or am I thinking someone else?) and is a big part of the Kings' future.

Johnson was never going to be that, that was readily apparent after his third year here (2008) and to flip basically a guy who is a glorified forward for a two-way, franchise threat like Carter was nothing short of highway robbery.

Both huge deals in Kings history that rank up there - I would say both in the top 3 - but for different reasons.

Yes you did. He could very well get an A permanently once Greene retires. But like the players all say there are a lot of leaders in the locker room besides the guys with the letters.

Sure Gretz was a big trade, but c'mon JJ for Carter? that is pure gold

The Kings also acquired Marcel Dionne from the Red Wings in a trade plus they acquired Rogie Vachon from Montreal in a trade. Had to give up Maloney to get Dionne but got Vachon for 4 pretty much nobodies. Not to say getting Carter for Johnson wasn't a steal for Lombardi and it did end up getting the Kings 2 Cups in 3 years while Vachon and Dionne never came close. Just saying several real good players for the Kings were acquired in trades.

I never said there where not good/great players ever acquired by LA. I have watched them ALL play. IMO Carter for Johnson is the best deal in Kings history and I will stand by it and the 2 cups that came with it
