OT: I love my pet

mayzie looks like a shitzu (sp?).. we had a shitzu while i was growing up, awesome dogs

i thought i was gunna go the 3 feral cat route when a momma cat brought her kittens on to my patio that's enclosed (they climed between the wall of the patio and the floor of the patio).. but i haven't seen them in a few days

plus i dont like cats.. kittens are freakin awesome, but cats i dont particularly like (plus i'm allergic)

I'll see your wifes one ourdoor cat with it's rabies shot, and raise you 3 formerly feral cats now with all their shots and spayed.

I can't compete on volume, but I will say that my wife tried to have the cat spayed as well, but the vet told her it already was.

Apparently a former housecat that some asshold abandoned when they moved.

yes, her dad is some super famous show dog. gets flown around the world to stud (nice work if you can get it)
but, because of her psycho-robot eye, Mayze is an automatic DQ for her breed.
we call her our little defect.

we have a black lab named Harley...I always thought of him more as a nuisance than anything else. or at least until I got deployed for 3 months. I was surprised by how much I missed him during it.

We have had Rocket for 10 and a half years. We got him from the pound and he was a terrible puppy but after a couple of months he settled down and has been a great pet. Hes got a lot of white now, patchy elbows, and an odd ring around his neck that went bald from where his collar was but he is still in good shape and bugs me for a ball game or a walk if the day is too boring.

Man, I wish I could see the pet pics. I have a Corgi/Jack Russell mix named Sparky that I've had for almost a year now. Love my little man to death. At first you couldn't see the Jack Russell hyper side of him, but you can now. He's better now that he's been fixed, but he can still have his moments.

Ah mystery solved. We've been trying to figure out what our dog was cross-bred with (We know German Shepherd and Malamutt, for sure) and I think I've finally nailed it -- Greyound; especially after looking at some of the similarities between my dog (posted) and yours.

Thanks. Your dog Luke looks very much like Oso. So much so that my kid saw Luke's pic and was shocked that it wasn't Oso.

I would have wagered large amounts of money that he was mostly German Shepherd but since we always wondered what he is my wife got me a DNA testing kit for him as a gift last year. The test results came back that he was mostly Siberian Husky (I see that) and standard poodle (wtf?). Hes about 65lbs which I think is a good size but not too big.

I was so emotionally distraught the day I lost Fluffster...I don't think I can handle another pet. Very selfish, I know. But, I can't afford one now anyway.

I don't think its selfish. I just feel that the people that feel the way you do are some of the best pet owners. I understand the feeling. I cannot imagine what its going to be like when something happens to Rocket. Most of my pets growing up died when I was too little to understand or after I had moved out so I never really dealt with a pet dying.

The coat is beautiful, except for the fact that the shedding is endless. I pulled a shopping bags worth of hair off of him last spring with a dog comb (in about an hour sitting). I'm not exaggerating; it was incredible amounts of hair.

I believe you. How old is he? Rocket shed more than any dog I have ever seen before. We'd have to vacuum the non carpeted areas of the house a couple times a week because there would be tumbleweeds of dog hair.
Oddly enough when he got around 8 it really slowed down. His coat still looks the same, but he sheds no where near as much.
