I bought the Vox mainly because it has a clean, line in channel for keyboards and it runs on batteries. It's the loudest 3 watts imaginable and it models eleven other famous amps (Fender DR, Marshall JCM, Vox AC30, etc). The Vox modeling is actually better than the Line 6 (and Line 6 isn't too bad, especially for the price). The Vox has a street price under $100.00 which was a feature that helped seal the deal. Youtube has demos of the Vox mini 3.

All that said, I liked the Rolands, too; especially for the fact that it models a Jazz Chorus. I know little about the Kustoms.

I've heard nothing but bad stuff about Kustom. A lot of electrical issues. My friend who bought one, bought it used, but it was still relatively new, so keep that in mind... But there are much better options. I don't like what I have heard from them.

Dick Dale first on the list. A good choice, I believe.

I know it's just 'go to this place at this time and perform this action' robotics, but this is pretty cool.

Hey blindbaby, I am about to buy one, price has dropped immensely, figured you may be into something like this. The demo is kinda crappy, but it has potential for some cool shit. Originally goes for $450-499.99, I just got an email that Sweetwater dropped it to $199.99.

Wow. I almost pulled the trigger on one when it was $400. You can't go wrong at $199.

The presets on these synths these days can be kind of ugly; tailored towards the techno crowd. My Roland Gaia has hideous presets, but once you learn how to monkey and tweak the controls, you should be able to create the type of sounds you desire.

Killer price!

Edit: great review from Craig Anderton - http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showthread.php?2736428-M-Audio-Venom-Synthesizer

Yea, I figured if I don't like it I can def get my money back and then some. I pulled the trigger. I am really getting into weird modern (and retro) psych rock and prog shit. I am really digging the current Mars Volta sound, they're heavy on blending the retro prog sound with modern synth shit.

So I need one to round out my music creation.

Meh, the more I think about it, the more I am disliking the flag pickguard... I am not super patriotic... I just hate the generic white pickguard. After your opinion(s) on that first one, how about this one?
