oh my!

CONFIRMED TODAY- Bond 24 (2016): Christopher Nolan will direct the 24th film in the James Bond film series.

that is very exciting actually

My only forays into Star Trek have been these two films, so I'm not expert, but I really enjoyed Into Darkness. Good suspense, I was drawn into the characters, and the whole of it was flat entertaining.

dont get me wrong I throughly enjoyed it.

Just got back from seeing Star Trek. This was the trailer that most grabbed my attention:

Based on the 1st book in an awesome series. I wonder if they plan to adapt any of the others (which aren't about mass military clashes between enemy species, but are nonetheless quit good in their own right).

Star Trek was amazing. I knew nothing about Star Trek before the reboot a couple of years ago, now I love it.

There were a couple of good previews, Ender's Game, that Matt Damon sci-fi movie looked good and they also had the best preview I've seen yet for World War Z. I went from thinking it looked disappointing to now being fired up for it.

Loved the first book, finished the 2nd, quit halfway through the 3rd. Felt too much like the Dune books to me where it starts out with a great premise but loses steam really quick.

Fair enough: To each his own.

I've never lost interest in the Dune series. I've read 14 of the 16, & hope to get to the other 2 eventually.

Absolutely.

And holy crap, I had no idea they were up to that many Dune books now.

reminds me of teh saga The Wheel of Time. alot of books alot of pages. the author actually passed away before the series was finished so they had a close family friend (another author) finish it for him. I gave up after book 7

I made it through the entire series. Though from about books 7 through 10, things moved pretty slow. Those books were rightly criticized for not really advancing the overall plot very much.

The original author responded pretty well to the criticisms though by the 11th book and got back on track. He then laid out EXTREMELY detailed notes about how the series was supposed to end, which was used by the continuation author to write the final three volumes.

If you enjoyed the first part of the series, you could honestly read the extended summaries of books 8-10 that are available on the web and then pick up 11-14 when they're good again.

Exactly what happened with the Dune books. Frank Herbert passed away in '86, after the 6th book came out. He left a whole attic full of 'notes' for prequels & sequels that his son, Brian Herbert, and established sci-fi writer Kevin J. Anderson have been mining ever since. Hence, there are now 16 books in the series - so far.

I have to say that I never liked Superman (has way too many powers, c'mon, pick a skill and stick with it. 'oh, you fly and have super strength and x-ray vision riiiiight.' Plus, a rock brings him to his knees?), but the new movie looks pretty bad ass.

Nice pic, Matty.
