Also, Bo is restructuring his deal with the Stamps.

The two-time CFL Most Outstanding Player was originally set to earn more than $700,000 in 2021 and 2022. He also had a roster bonus worth $350,000 that was supposed to be paid on February 1, 2021.

The new was first reported by the Not a Draft Podcast, co-hosted by Calgary Stampeders’ national receiver Michael Klukas.

Mitchell will now earn $525,000 in 2021 with his deal still running through the 2022 season. The two-time league all-star is the most recent CFL quarterback to restructure his contract with Mike Reilly and Cody Fajardo having also done so in recent days.

This guy is pretty connected within CFL circles and if they start the season around Labo(u)r Day with even 10 K fans (which is what the Argos usually draw lol) and get some additional sponsors in place, I think they must do it. Lose a second season and people will just give up on the CFL.

Oh man, this is sad news as Chris Schultz passed away yesterday from a heart attack at the age of 61. RIP Schultzie.

So, the CFL and XFL are into preliminary talks about a potential merger, ways to grow the game etc. Could this be the end of 3 down football (at least at the professional level) in North America?

Yup, about the only change I could stomach would be going to 4 downs (fans love offense). I like 12 guys on a wider, longer field and kickoffs that are actually returned. The Rock is one of the owners of the XFL and tried out for the Stamps back in the day, I think he has an understanding of the tradition of the league.

seems like it's either close-ish (though I read that CFL were taken offguard by XFL going public),
or XFL needs CFl to continue. (ergo leverage to keep the rouge) :)

I think it was more the players that were taken aback by this announcement if I'm reading the twitterverse correctly.

Obligatory...I love how they even have the announcers wearing the classic orange CBC blazers :D
