Question: was this not expected? I mean, I know lake effect isn't as simply predicted, but man...the stranded people and all, seems like you'd plan a bit. Also, this makes me think of how I'd react in these situations...and it'd probably be a panic attack situation. Can't go anywhere, feeling trapped, ughhhh.

Buffalo Just Got Hit With A Wall Of Snow So Thick It Stranded Drivers In Their Cars

Seems to have moved pretty fast. Some of the pics of the storm coming in are... scary.

Yes...how horrible to have that happen in the middle of the work week. ;)

I gotta give Boss a hard time though. This is a little bit of overkill to keep people off your lawn, buddy.

I'd still have a panic attack. Sitting inside for a few days when I know I can leave? Fine. Being unable to leave for circumstances beyond my control? Complete and utter panic.

It was the magnitude that was unexpected. They knew the storm was coming and that it was going to be a big one. What they didn't know was exactly just how big. They were calling for 2-3 feet initially, which is obviously not a small amount, but a big difference from 5-6 feet.

Part of that is because it moved less than usual. In general, the storms tend to move across the area or at least oscillate north/south a bit. This one just moved over one spot and stayed there for the entire time.

Don't worry about me, I'm now enjoying the sun and 50 degree weather here in Vegas. I used to live in S Cheektowaga, last I heard they had 65 inches.

Rain in forecast is going to cause BIG problems if the snow can't melt. Some roofs are already weakened and building are being declared unsafe. A nursing home with 125 residents is latest. The additional weight will be bad news for many.

I can't see playing the Bills game in Orchard Park Sunday (5 feet of snow and counting). I say move it to UB where the Bulls play and fans might be SOL. To quote former Mayor Jimmy Griffin "get a 6 pack and stay home"
