Baseball players don't grab jerseys like hockey players. In a way, I think the way hockey players fight makes them pussies. Trying to pull the jersey over the other guys head and then punching him when he's defenseless? That''s a pussy move. Bullshit!!! Establishing the inside part of the plate and throwing at a batter are 2 completely different things. The last pitch was almost a foot off the plate!!! Why weren't they trying to "establish" the inside of the plate when the Sox were scoring 8 runs in the 1st inning? Gregg was sending a message and then ran his mouth when Papi flied out, which is what sparked the fight. It's not the Sox's fault Baltimore sucks balls!!!

Thanks for the objective view Eloco. That's exactly what happened, but unfortunately, the haters will talk shit when it's not their team involved. I can't wait until Detroit, Pittsburgh, or any other team with fans here has it happen to them. I'll have a field day.

I don't think batters should be allowed to wear protective gear on their arms - yes, it's fine for ankles, but this armor just allows hitters like Ortiz to basically stand over the plate - as a pitcher you need to establish the inner half to be effective but it's damn near impossible with guys like Ortiz. Establishing the inside of the plate with guys like Ortiz that hang out over the plate may involve throwing at him. With that being said, I side with Ortiz on this incident.

Players only started wearing that protection because pitchers were throwing at them. Like I said, establishing the inside of the plate is one thing, but 3 straight pitches going more and more off the plate AT the batter is pathetic. I'm pretty sure the Sox batters aren't the only ones crowding the plate.

Alright, well you don't need to compliment me for being objective and then "lol" at one of my teams. I thought the fight was Gregg's fault and I don't really care if Big Papi can throw a punch or not. But it's not being "cheap" that keeps them from competing, it's being in a small market. The O's are actually an average team in salary, but this is still half the amount of teams like Boston or New York that buy playoff spots every year.

It's not the fan's fault that Angelos is an asshole, or that the MLB put a franchise a half hour down the road that cannibalized much of the fan base, or that baseball has a complete bullshit cap system that allows teams like the Yanks and Red Sox to buy championships and makes baseball the least competitive of all of the major sports by a mile.
