He should have been carrying.... That's the only way to stop something like this.

I agree. The safeest neighborhood in America is a town in Texas where it is a requirement you own firearms.

However, when three kids just drive up behind someone and stick a bullet in your back, awefully hard to defend yourself.

I think a ton of kids are just total sociopaths and numb to violence. I'm no Tipper Gore, but I do think that videogames, etc has desensitized a generation of kids that have no parental guidance (or just really shitty parents) to the real world impact that violence has. I grew up playing some videogames and watching ultraviolent movies, but I had at least some morals instilled in me and could separate sensational violence with actual violence. So to your point Crash, yes, it's a fucked up world and culture that we have.

Smack your head all you want, guns do not kill people, people kill people.

So if good people are armed, bad guys are less likely to break in or rob that place in fear of getting shot. Bad guys are cowards mostly in gerneral, they want easy targets to prey on.

That town has less violent crimes per capa than any other town in America.

You're not safe in any ghetto or anyplace that is rife with poverty. Strapped or not. On the other hand, any community that has a good quality of life (decent household incomes, good schools) you are more than likely safe. From what I've heard OK city is a lot like Memphis. It's got some serious crime issues. Basically, parts of the town are just a total shithole.

I was being facetious.

I've never heard of the town you reference. It strikes me as amazing that there could be a town in America that could FORCE you to carry. Wouldn't that be unconstitutional? I don't believe it exists.

Regardless, even if that data point did exist it would not jive with the fact that states with stricter gun laws have fewer deaths from guns.

They shot the guy in the back, he didn't even know they were there. Him having a gun would not have changed the outcome one iota!

What's the population? A couple hundred? I bet they're also all related. If not, there probably isn't a single colored person in the town. They were probably all driven out. Nobody to hate, no crime.

Your argument holds no water whatsoever.

Oh, and btw, if guns do not kill people, then guns don't save lives either or make people more safe. People make each other more safe.

To you and Cincy Grad.

I will admit I was wrong about the location, but it does exist. Not in Texas, but Kennesaw, Georgia.

Kennesaw is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States, located in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. It had a population of 29,783 according to the 2010 census. Founded in 1887, Kennesaw has a past surrounded with railroad history. During the Civil War, Kennesaw was the staging ground for the Great Locomotive Chase on April 12, 1862.

In 2007, the city was selected by Family Circle magazine as one of the nation's "10 best towns for families". The city is perhaps best known nationally for its mandatory gun-possession ordinance.

Then here is a link to an article all about Kennesaw and its laws, stats, and a national reports.

The Most Pro-Gun Low-Crime City in the United States

One of these days, some of the ass hats on this board will actually believe me when I say something, instead of looking like a freaking fool when I prove myself.

Kennesaw passed the law in 1982 when there were only 5k people in the town. They basically passed it as a publicity stunt and a reaction to a more stringent gun law in another state. They have never even tried to enforce it.... Wouldn't be very smart as compulsory gun ownership would be unconstitutional.

This odd exception of a town doesn't fit with the larger data.

And since 1982, it has grown to almost 30k, and in 2007 had 1 murder or somethign like that from the article. It has grown exponentially, but the violent crime has dropped considerably.

Your original argument was that there can't be no such town that makes owning a firearm mandatory, as it would be against am America's civil rights. The Civil Right protects a citizen saying they have the right to bare arms. No where does it say that a city government can't enforce a citizen to carry a firearm if written into that city's laws. It protects the citizen from the government takeing away their right to own one, doesn't say the government can't force you to carry one.

So, do you also believe that the government can force you to vote?
