It sure doesn't sound good, but I have several friends who have left South Africa due to safety concerns. They have also told me that the police do not have a good reputation, so I think we should wait to see how this unfolds.

Yeah, I know I've crossed the line when I get higgy-glared. Oscar strikes me as a pretty good guy and somebody you wouldn't think capable of committing something as terrible as murder. As I mentioned earlier, South Africa doesn't have the best of track records when it comes to police and court conduct.
